Delay served with a subpoena, the first of many, we hope
WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has been subpoenaed to testify in a Texas civil lawsuit about his role in using government resources to track down Democratic legislators who fled the state during last year's bitter redistricting dispute

This is great news, although I'm sure we'd all rather see him nailed for some of his other activities, like using a chidren's charity to launder money to be used at RNC parties in NYC.

1. and then there's the possible bribery and extortion charges DeLay may be
facing.

"The investigation, by a four-member subcommittee, was triggered when the retiring Smith said that unidentified lawmakers and business interests promised substantial money to his (Rep. Smith) son's congressional campaign if he voted for the Medicare legislation. Smith said the same interests threatened to support other candidates if he didn't change his vote.

Miller made a statement to Smith "that referenced the congressional candidacy" of Smith's son, the report said. It also said Smith interpreted Miller's statements as a threat of retaliation.

Miller, who heads President George W. Bush's re-election committee in Michigan, was in a position to hurt the candidacy of Brad Smith, the report said. Smith said the amount offered for his son's campaign was $100,000."
