Is Pat Robertson "sticking to his guns"? What does he have to say now
that the WH is denying his statement about Bush stating there would be no casualties in Iraq.

What he says will go a long, long way and most people will believe him over Bush.

I have not heard what he NOW has to say over the "no casualties" statement. Does anybody know??

1. He's not backing down ..
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2002068714_iraqdig21.html

Robertson did not back away yesterday from his comments. While Bush's response was a mistake, Robertson said, God has blessed the president anyhow.

http://www.thedesertsun.com/news/stories2004/national/20041021000128.shtml

Robertson released a statement about Bush late Wednesday in which he said, "I emphatically stated that I believe ‘the blessing of heaven is upon him’ and I am persuaded that he will win this election and prevail on the war against terror in order to keep America safe from her avowed enemies."

2. Funny thing
Yesterday on DU somebody dug up Roberston saying that to (I think they said Aron Brown on CNN) several months ago in an interview.

I was watching CNN last night and I saw Aron Brown, he mentioned the story about Robertson and did a small story on it, but he never mentioned HIS interview several months earlier when Robertson first mentioned that quote with Bush.

Did I get the Interviewer right? Wasn't it Aaron Brown??? If not, please correct me. (Like you wouldn't even if I didn't ask)

I though it was really unbelieveable!

3. I think it was a plan of Roves
Robertson did the same thing in 2000 election. Scolded Bushie. Now, he tells the press "I warned him about casualties." So evangelicals worried about the immorality of the war, can see their leader taking the right stand, and hear him say, "But vote for Bush anyway." It worked. People think its great to have caught Bush in yet another lie... it was planned.

4. It looks like he's not backing down
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A49088-2004Oct20.html">Washington Post

White House political adviser Karl Rove told reporters that Bush never said he did not expect casualties. "I was right there," Rove said of the president's conversation with Robertson.

In a statement yesterday, Robertson did not back away from his comments about Bush and said, "I emphatically stated that I believe 'the blessing of heaven is upon him,' and I am persuaded that he will win this election and prevail on the war against terror."

7. More like saving his wallet
He know this war is going south and he needs to keep face with his following. That's my take on it.

8. More importantly, are they pressing the point that if Bush said there
would be no casualties, then he KNEW there were no WMDs.

The idiot Fundies will rationalize it away just like Robertson himself is doing. Bush is lying about what he said to the guy yet he is still kissing his ass.
