'9/11' to air on public-access TV |
|
A Tucson woman has succeeded where director Michael Moore failed: She is making sure the anti-Bush documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" gets on television before the Nov. 2 election. Radio producer Elaine Higginbotham has Moore's permission to air the controversial film on local public-access television. http://www.azstarnet.com/dailystar/dailystar/44435.php

Ask for time. They'll help you with the technical setup and so forth. These channels belong to the people. Try it.

3. Councilwoman Kathleen Dunbar can bite me |
|
The GOP response to showing this on access cable (as opposed to Sinclair using public airways to hit Kerry) is typical, if you can't control the messenger, kill it. She wanted to cut public funding for Access Tucson. Heaven forbid the people should have a forum from which to voice opinion and share information!
<snip> City Councilwoman Kathleen Dunbar called it proof of Access Tucson's "liberal agenda," and said "Stolen Honor" should be aired in the interest of balance. "If they do one they should do the other," the North Side Republican said. <snip>But Behrend noted that Access Tucson's 140 weekly shows run the gamut. They include one from the ultra-conservative John Birch Society, which will air immediately before "Fahrenheit 9/11" on two occasions. <snip>Earlier this year, Dunbar supported an effort to reduce public funding to Access Tucson. This year, the cable service received $761,200 from the city but that amount was more than offset by the $3.7 million in subscriber fees paid to the city by Cox.
Hey, any Tucson DUers, is that funny old guy still doing the astrology show on Access Tucson? I caught it around Halloween one year and he was in costume and really funny. Don't know that he intended to be funny, but he was. Oh, and there were plenty of winger types with their own shows too. Hardly a hotbed of liberal thought most evenings. :freak:
