Rumor, Joe Biden to be Sec Of State in Kerry Aministration.
I heard this through someone I know that works in DC with Biden. I don't know if it is set in stone but the word is he is at the top of the list. What do y'all think of Biden in this position? Delaware has a Democratic Governor so his Senate seat would safely stay in our party.

1. Are we guaranteed to keep his senate seat?
If not, no Joe Biden. We might actually take the senate...or at least have Edwards as the tie breaker. Hell, if it is 49-51, maybe Chafee would switch parties?

2. either Biden or Hollbrooke
Both are at the top of my list! The safe bet is Biden for SecState and Hollbrooke for NSA.

4. No, it's just barely silly enough
Biden's a good, even a great, choice. But what about Wes? Where's my boy??

10. I agree
Let's not put the cart before the horse.
I don't want anything to jinx us before he actually wins.
Once it's a done deal, then we can celebrate/gloat/rub salt in the wounds....

5. Ugggghhhhh! Why not just buy him a vidcam and a mirror.
And keep him away from microphones to prevent him from making his usually stupid remarks.

Secretary of State? Biden? He'd paint himself blue and appear at the UN just to get camera time.

6. I'm not sure he would be willing to give up his Senate Seat
If we take back the Senate he would become Chair of Foreign Relations swapping places with Lugar. I think he might consider it if the Republicans increase their majority in the Senate, but I tend to doubt he would do it. I've been a supporter of his here in DE since he first became a Senator in 1972 and one thing I do know about him, is he loves being in the Senate.

7. I think it will be Holbrooke
With Bob Graham as NSA.

Not sure where Wes Clark fits in, but he's too smart not to put him somewhere important.

9. I would love to see Wes Clark in that position.
Unfortunately, I don't really think there's a place for him in the Kerry administration. A great loss for our country and the world.:(

I've never cared all that much for Biden. To me, he comes off with all the sincerity and integrity of a used car salesman.

11. I'd rather have Kerry try to poach a decent Repub Senator
Someone like Hagel.

That is IF the Dems have a chance of picking the seat up.

14. Maybe for Sec of Defense, not State, though
I could see McCain, Warner or Hagel as Sec of Defense. Heck, maybe even Colin Powell.

15. Only one reason to pick McCain:
To sideline him for the 2008 election.

16. Actually there IS another very good reason.
If the senate ends up 50-50 again, Kerry drafts McCain, and Arizona's got a Democratic governor to appoint his replacement. :)

12. I have never liked Biden. I think he's a dumb man. I also think...
...that he sold the Democrats out on Anita Hill. I think he cut a deal with Repubicans and canceled all the witness testimony and allowed a vote before people heard the full story. His last day of chairing those hearings was filled with some of the most non-sensical BS ever heard from a Democrat's mouth.

I've always wondered what that deal was and I've always thought America would have been much better off with another Souter on the court than with Clarence Thomas.

18. I will NEVER forgive Biden for the Anita Hill fiasco.
I agree, it was just plain bizarre. I think he cut some stupid, self-serving deal. Screwed the nation and the world.

19. I think Wes Clark would be perfect for the job.
The international community have great respect for the General! Biden is just another senator to the rest of the world...lacks Clark's gravitas.

for Kerry in Scranton on Friday.
-edit-
U.S. Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr., D-Del., a Scranton native, will headline the Lackawanna County Democratic Party's annual dinner Oct. 29 at the Hilton Scranton and Conference Center.

Mr. Biden's name is said by some observers to be on Democratic nominee U.S. Sen. John Kerry's short list of secretary of state candidates. The cocktail hour begins at 6:30 p.m. and dinner follows. Tickets are $50 apiece and available through party officials or at party headquarters.
