Osama "on the move", Intelligence on Alert
Osama on the move, intelligence on alert

Abhigyan Hans in New Delhi
Oct. 21. — Central intelligence agencies are on alert following a report in a Pakistani newspaper, quoting unnamed US intelligence agency sources, that Al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden has left Afghanistan and entered the rugged terrain around the Sino-Indian border.
Union home ministry officials have been intimated about the news report which appeared in Thursday’s edition of a Lahore-based newspaper. Reuters has quoted the newspaper as saying that Laden has “left Afghanistan for the rugged mountainous border areas between Pakistan and China” and that “there are reports that he has thereafter moved from a Chinese area to Ladakh and a Tibetan area of India”( sic). The newspaper, quoting “reports received by US intelligence agencies”, went on to state that the Al-Qaida chief could be sheltered by tribal lords in the area — which is “considered the world’s most difficult terrain”.
While the report says that the US authorities have already contacted their Indian counterparts in the matter, there was no official confirmation of it from the Indian side.
Incidentally, the US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, Ms Christina Rocca, arrived in the Capital today. This evening, the National Security Advisor, Mr JN Dixit, held a meeting with the home minister Mr Shivraj Patil though it was not immediately known whether the issue also came up for discussion.

Yeah... here we go with the perfect setup :eyes:

Instead of admitting that Osama's been in Western China for some time now (according to articles from last week) this way they can claim he's just now "on the move" and the Chinese authorities can arrange his conveniently timed delivery to the BCE.

Osama's wearing an orange jumpsuit for Halloween. Bet on it.

1. Probably looking for those 200,000 soldiers that were on the move to

join the Afghan Resistance back in 2001.

2. Why I don't bet on anything Team Bush does
They're clever, they're treacherous, and they're ruthless.

But they're also inept.

I guess in a way it's good, because it makes the news that much more exciting, to see the Masters of the World tripping themselves up over trivia that no clear-headed human would tolerate in any kind of campaign.

I suspect that we have had Osama at least twice since 9-11-2001, and each time, we let him go, probably on identification "issues". It may not be very "rovian," but it is very "Bushian"!

3. Being in...

.."the most difficult terrain in the world" is the best place for the worlds most wanted man to be.. and protected by local tribal lords of course is a must..

I think one of the main reasons that nobody has caught him yet is that, quite simply.. you just can't GO to where he is.

Still, I wonder what that area is like. I wonder what life is like there.

I hope that in the years after this is all said and done, that perhaps maybe someone who has been travelling with bin Laden all this time, will write a tell all story about the exploits during the Afghan war and since... all this running around the mountains, being sheltered by different tribes.. how they moved, how they communicated.. what life is like... I have been curious about that the whole time.. don't get me wrong, I have no sympathy for these people. I am just really curious. I mean.. the biggest manhunt in the history of the world, practically, and it's been years and the guy hasn't been caught, and all these whispers about where he may or may not be... him hiding in *the* most remote area of the world.. I mean it makes for a great story! And I really hope some books come out that will detail his flight from Afghanistan until whataver happens finally comes to a head.
