WTF? Bush showing WTC collapse
I just heard a piece on NPR that the shrub is showing the collapse of the WTC on giant screens to get the crowd warmed up before he gives his stump speech. What a low life fucking bastard! They have sunk to a new low that I didn't even think existed. Utterly disgusting........................................

After all, he's killed less than half as many Americans by invading Afghanistan and Iraq as an encore.

65. Im sorry.
I didnt see the stock market referenced until your post. I thought we were talking about air.

My point is that people gotta breath and some dumbass in Washington isnt going to change that fact by giving you the OK or NOT OK to breath air.

The only sensible thing to do was to move out of the area for at least awhile.

* and Whitman didn't even tell us to wear masks or take any form of safety precautions.

We were also given no warning, let alone aid, regarding the clean-up of the WTC dust that blanketed our apartments and homes.

We, residents of Lower Manhattan, were exposed to the worst environmental catastrophe in US and you think it's clever to make glib.

You have a really rotten attitude, Missy.

10. Death and destruction.............
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 06:33 PM by DumpGump
is the cornerstone of the Bush campaign. What better way to whip his sucking, groveling sycophants into a frenzy than to show them pictures of the most horrific event to ever occur on American soil? I'm sure there are Republican men with boners and women with wet cotton at the sight of all this delicious death and destruction. It gets them hot. Then their leader, the man responsible for their retribution, the man who gives the orders to kill thousands upon thousands of brown skinned people, women, children, burnt, maimed, terribly disfugred............struts on the stage and with his trademark smirk on his face tells them "freedom in on the march"!
Rapture, joy. Their messiah has spoken!

Excuse me, I got a little carried away there. These people have no sense of shame at all. They make me want to vomit.

14. It doesn't matter
The only people allowed to his campaign speeches are those who agree to vote for him already. Well, practically. Who in his right mind would sign an oath of fealty to see Bush unless he/she had already decided to vote for Bush.

What an asinine way to campaign. It means that all the stump speeches are nothing but an occasion to create sound bites for television.

I agree, Bush is getting more desperater every day.

15. That is just wrong, It is bestial to even think of doing this.
I almost cry everytime I think about it. I see the black smoke coiling around those towers, billowing out of gaping wounds. I remember seeing the debris falling side by side with human beings. I remember the collapse of both towers, the first crumbling as a gray cloud envelops Manhattan, then the second only a short while later, breaking apart into gargantuan shells imprisoning fellow men, women, even children.

Ugh, I can't bear to think, or see, or hear about it. It's too painful.

How can they use this for political gains? Do they have no humanity?

23. Bush = Nazi

There, I said it. I've long resisted saying it because I've thought it would make people tune out, but this just tears it.

As anyone who has actually studied the rise of Hitler to power can attest, he deliberately used devices exactly like this to instigate the crowd, to play off their fears and their hatreds, and to convince people, however subtly, that it was okay to exterminate entire races of people.

This man has to go. Now.

Bush, Kerry Trade Barbs in Pennsylvania, Ohio

At 00:45

Reporter:

President Bush started the day in Pennsylvania, a state he has visited 41 times since taking office.

This morning he spoke in a hockey arena in Wilkes Barre.

"Just seems like yesterday I was here in Wilkes Barre. But come to think of it, I was."

But that folksy greeting quickly gave way to a speech that contained a sustained assault on John Kerry, portraying the Democrat as a man who won't do what is necessary to protect the nation.

Before the president took the stage, images from the World Trade Center wreckage played on the arena's giant TV screens.

66. re: "Im smarter than Bush...
...Or anyone else who believed Bush when he said the air was ok. Now go bite yourself for believing Bush."

Fescue4you, I object to this shifting of the responsibility onto individuals. This to me is neo-con Republican thinking. We live in a community, and to shift blame onto individuals for everything breaks up the community. Many people cannot just pick up and leave, and that doesn't mean that they aren't as smart as someone who is able to pick up and leave. Whether or not people are stupid or smart, and believe or don't believe what the President says, is not relevant to the fact that the people were lied to. The ones doing the lying are some of the most masterful liars in history, and the people who were being lied to were already stressed and terrorized. People who are under duress will make mistakes in judgement, especially if they are being intentionally and cleverly misled.

You asked what people would do if the government had been truthful about the air quality and then added sarcastically "not breath?" I find this offensive and mean-spirited. The government gave the ok to the air quality. How many people are willing to discard and ignore everything that every government official says? It is easy in retrospect to say that people are stupid for believing the EPA on this, but to say that is similar to saying that "all politicians are crooks so why bother?" This attitude makes it impossible to restore proper trust between the people and their government and government officials, and weakens our ability to hold pulbic officials accountable.

Had the government been honest about the air quality, many things could have been set in motion - better clean up procedures, more testing, better medical response to potential health problems, and easier assessment of liability to cover the inevitable costs of doing the right thing. Recognition that there was a problem would have also allowed us to devise plans to help those whom you are calling stupid to be able to leave or otherwise protect themslves and their families.

You are in effect asking people to either swim strongly against the tide of official lies and public acceptance of them, and to pay the price in social ostracization from that, or to think only of themselves and pack up, abandon their lives and neighborhood and leave. You are asking far too much of the average citizen, and deflecting attention away from the real problem and where the blame should be placed - on the powerful people in positions of public trust.

69. But isn't that his most monumental FAILURE to protect us?
why he keeps acting like it wasn't is proof he's the antichrist.

72. this is confusing
how is showing his biggest failure supposed to help him? I must be slow today. I would be thinking oh yeah, he had a memo that had the warning in the title for christ's sake and they let it happen. yes, LET IT HAPPEN.

73. "Never did I dream we'd get the trifecta." - GWB June 14, 2002 Houston

June 14, 2002
Remarks by the President in Texans for Rick Perry Reception
Hyatt Regency Hotel
Houston, Texas
6:09 P.M. CDT
<clip>
You know, when I was one time campaigning in Chicago, a reporter said, would you ever have a deficit? And I said, I can't imagine it, but there would be one if we had a war, or a national emergency, or a recession. (Laughter.) Never did I dream we'd get the trifecta. (Laughter.)

75. Let's not forget.
"Bin-Laden determined to strike within the United States."

President's daily briefing. August 6th, 2004.

This P.O.S responded by extending his vacation. 9-11 is his shame, not his accomplishment.
