Guess what is important to the watchers of CBN?
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 07:06 PM by ck4829
I was actually kind of shocked when I saw this.

In the final two weeks before the presidential election, which domestic issue will have the most significant impact on the outcome?

Social Security 26%

Military Draft 12%

Same Sex Marriage 51%

Prescription Drugs 10%

http://www.cbn.com/poll/results.asp?p=%7B54F22A13%2D0396%2D4E3B%2D9185%

So the 'problem' is actually the marriage of certain people, and not Social Security, Medicine, and kids being forced to go to war.

The proof is here for anyone who doubts it. If we do not stop the Neo-Conservatives, we will definitely become a Theocratic Fascist state.

3. This makes no sense.
These people aren't Christians. I don't know what they are,but they are not following the teachings of Christ.

4. When the blind lead the blind
both fall into the ditch. Somebody ought to tell the buggers that who gets married has zero effect on them.

5. Well, yeah!
Doesn't matter if you're 75 years old and living in a cardboard box under a freeway bridge and can't buy medicine for your blood pressure because Social Security ran out; or maybe you're a college student who ran out of money and had to drop out and you couldn't get a job and wound up in the army getting your ass shot off n Iraq. The important thing is that a couple of guys or a couple of women you don't know and never will meet who have lived together for years can't have their relationship legally recognized because THAT'S SIN!!!

I just can't figure these people out.

6. Kool-Aid imbibers. I thought "strengthening" marriage would be better
served through measures to decrease the divorce rate, for one thing.

7. I couldn't agree more.
You never hear these Bible thumpin', gay bashin', gun totin', flag wavin', God fearin', rag head hatin' assholes proposing this most obvious way to "strengthen" marriage. But, of course, this isn't their real intent anyway. They are just sooooooo clever.

8. This reminds me...
of a quote that Mick Foley (WWE wrestler, author, and Democrat) said one time on a radio show. He said that it worries him that there are people in this country who "tuck their children into bed at night, and say to them 'Son, I know you're going to bed hungry because there's not enough food to eat in the house, and you're cold because we can't pay the heating bill- but, at least those gay couples we saw on the news tonight can't get married'". (The words may be slightly off, I'm going from memory here)

I thought that was brilliant.

9. I'm not sure I've ever truly been at a loss for words before...
but this one does it. My brain simply cannot emcompass the kind of logic that could possible lead to these conclusions!

10. Well DUH! Why do you think the GOP and the media MADE it an issue?
The same reason that they make abortion an issue.

Do you seriously think the GOP and the people who really support them (the rich) give a rat's ass about abortion rights?

Fuck no. All they care about is getting the votes they need. And they learned a long time ago that they can get solid votes from the religious fundies by singing the "baby-killers" tune.

The rich are gonna get abortions no matter what, so what the fuck do they care? They don't.

But your average "bible-is-the-word-of-god" nutjob from rural whereEVER will vote for the "right to life" candidate NO MATTER WHAT ELSE THAT CANDIDATE DOES OR STANDS FOR.

I saw this coming months before it "became" an issue, and I knew the media would make it an issue because, well, it's about sex for one thing, and also because they do whatever the white house tells them to fucking do.

The fundies are the most EASILY manipulated pool of voters anywhere.

11. And many of the most adamantly opposed
have been through a divorce or two themselves.

It is so bizarre. The Bible that they like to quote so literally has much more to say against divorce than gays - Jesus said nothing against gays but plenty against divorce. Somehow the fundies turn a deaf ear to anything that applies to them personally.
