* wants to maintain the staus quo as he sees it. But don't we need total
reform?

Consumerism

+

peak oil

+

terrorism WE, as a country, helped create with our lust for oil to promote our empty consumerism

+

rich-get-richer ideals promoted by the repukes in the name of 'freedom' and 'opportunity'

+

blatant lies by the * admin that some 40% of our country refuse to see or believe. Such as *'s flip-flop on drugs from Canada.

+

Drug industry profits continue to report increases while, at the same time, prices go up by astronomical amounts

+

our freedoms being taken away in the name of 'homeland security' (it's called FASCISM; the same methods have been used over and over throughout humankind's history and yet many people don't see it)

+

farmers selling their land for profit; the land turned into housing developments - which in turn destroys the farmland once used for crops; as a result we're helping to starve ourselves because of the almighty dollar x(

+

50 other big problems, all of which related to our economy as we defined it.

In short, money is destroying us as a species.

We need change, big time, if our species is to survive.

We still need oil for petrochemical fertilizers and transport, but surely we can live without the latest DVD set of "The Apprentice"? (I'll happily give up my purchasing and use of DVDs if it helps us as a COMMUNITY.)

We are at a crossroads. We can either try to maintain our current system... (just came back after 5 minutes of unctrollable hysterical laughing at that ridiculous notion), or we all make compromises (including the wealthy, which is something they sure as hell won't be used to) to ensure we keep going as compassionately as possible until our population numbers go down.

It can be abrupt with a lot of pain and destruction, or slower that is comparatively painless.

Which do you prefer? Our "compassionate conservatives" (another 5 minutes of hysterical laughter over their bogus comment about themselves) prefer pain and destruction, which will ultimately lead to rioting by our own in this country (they know it too, hence the removal of freedoms - once again, fascism even though some people WILL riot anyway - they have before when we were prosperous) and worse because, even many of the * supporters will eventually figure it out.

1. Very true
Capitalism only works well if greed is kept in check. Is it our human nature to embrace greed as a positive trait ?
