I am stunned, in Orlando
First the Orlando Sentinel endorses Kerry, and now I just saw this on Colonial Drive a few minutes ago. There's a large patriotic looking billboard on the corner of Colonial & 436 (main intersection) that says Florida Mothers thank President Bush for keeping us safe. On the lower right hand corner someone has painted in big white letters (against the blue background) "And we are afraid to say different." You can't miss it. The billboard was paid for by the RNC, not some organization of Florida mothers I might add. And there are Kerry signs everywhere, and I do mean everywhere, even in the most conservative neighborhoods. This showing of Democratic support is unprecedented. I've got a really good feeling about election day.

1. That is priceless.
I hope somebody gets a photo of the sign.

6. I saw that big B/C sign at the corner of Mills and Colonial
it's one of the few in this area, lol! There's an equally Kerry/ Edwards sign in front of Best and Anderson, just a few blocks south.

Hey, have you volunteered at the Kerry HQ on Mills? It's in the old Schwinn shop, next to Colonial Hobby.

will be back later today and during the rest of the week (6-9pm, mostly. Sometimes earlier). Long blonde hair and thirtysomething-that's me.

Hope to see you there! :hi:

16. If the vandals are reading this...
I'd LOVE to see writing under this sign that said something like "FEAR! It's all we've got!", "Be afraid, dammit"! Or just "Booga, booga, booga"!

7. I live in Waterford Lakes..
and in my subdivision there are only two signs out -- both B/C. However, I was driving around downtown and Winter Park yesterday, and I was so excited to see all of the Kerry/Edwards signs out. I hadn't been in that part of town in a while, so it was my first opportunity to see it. I told my husband we should have moved to that part of town!

8. How do you know the RNC made the sign? If they did, it's really creepy,
even for them. Very 1984.

10. On the bottom
of the billboard it has their assignation. Actually it kind of pissed me off at first and then I felt better when I realized they were making it up and no Florida Moms organization exists, at least not that I'm aware of.

12. Yes.
But this time we will be out in full force to fight them. If you can, volunteer to be a poll watcher. But you have to register as one by Tuesday the latest.

15. Hmmmmm
Here's hoping the same brave souls who fixed the Colonial Drive billboard have their eyes on that one.

17. OMG.
And this billboard is the real thing, not an attempt at dark humor? That's scary. I would get photographs of that.

Thanks for the news about Orlando; I was down there this summer before the hurricanes and didn't see much at the time. IIRC, Orlando was being billed as a "swing area." Anyone have a link to the FL county-by-county results from 2000 for comparison?

Great news!
