Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 10:57 AM by indigobusiness
wow...anybody catch that?

He said he remembered when PR said he'd just talked to God and God said Bush was going to win and win big (last election).

He said he didn't doubt his sincerity, bush he didn't think he was a good source for opinions, or fact-checking.

5. The more the religious right gets out there and opens their mouths
the better for Kerry. The "undecideds" are not evangelicals.
Talk about fear factor!

7. I saw the whole thing...It sounded like Sheiffer et al were ...
merely attempting to "justify" the coverage by the media in this very important election. In my mind, they failed miserably!

Just a lot of "self-spin"!

8. Speaking of Pat Roberson
This is my first post/reply, i luv this site

I would like to share a scary moment I had at work
yesterday.

First, my boss is a Christian and a repub and very
willing to talk about his faith.

I was speaking to him about some things that scared me about
bush as a leader of this country and bush's somewhat
radical view of religion. Comparing it to say, Pat Robertson,
as in Robertson steering hurricanes with prayer. Also, Bush's
idea that "the Constitution" is his to rewrite to suit his religion
and impose it on the rest of the country. And just touching on
the idea of maybe Bush wanting to envoke the second coming of Christ.

What I learned of my boss that day is truly disturbing, he infact did beleive that prayer could steer hurricanes and that God through prayer could do anything (no i'm not kinding).
He also got very excited (in a happy way) that he beleived the second coming was already set in progress and would be in his lifetime (hes 50 now). He was "very happy" about this! and put it to me as fact!

This is considered sane?!? He is allowed to own firearms!

21. Welcome to DU dem n NC!
If that means North Carolina, thanks for the gift of John Edwards!

As for the enlightenment you received at work, welcome to that club, too. It is frightening to confront the facts here: some very "human" beings believe they personally have tapped into the Divine conscience. And they are helping direct it! Swell, huh?

It helps to know Scripture to counter these freaks. First of all, Christ said he was the way, the truth and the light. No one can come to "God" except through Christ. If they try to quote anything but Matthew, Mark, Luke or John ( Books in the Bible where Jesus spoke, also called "the Gospels") ask, "what did Jesus say about it?" They like to use Paul quotations. Be prepared.

What Jesus said about government was to render unto the government what belonged to it, and to God what belonged to God. Because the soul belongs to God, no human institution can claim it or attempt to control it.

What he said about the "last days" was that no one knew when they would come, not even Christ. If any man claims to "know" when the last days will come, he is claiming to be higher than Christ!!!!!

Sorry to hijack this thread. But people should counter these fools with what the bible actually says. You don't have to be a Christian to do this.

And I'm glad ole' Bob is hitting Robertson in the gut. HE is the Chief Freak of Freaks.

17. Fair enough,
but when Scheiffer spent half of the third debate on Republican talking points (gays, "faith", affirmative action, abortion) you've got to wonder about his impartiality.

Not one question on the environment or energy policy. Instead he wasted precious time with an idiotic question on whether homosexuality is a choice. :eyes:

18. No, your point was that because Schieffer's
brother years ago had a financial interest with * that this somehow produced an ongoing automatic political bias on the part of Schieffer in favor of *. For all you know he's pissed at * for not including him in the deal and is biased in the other direction. I prefer more rational methods for determining bias. For me it's got to be more than DNA.

23. My brother was a RW Republican in every way.
I have always been a liberal Democrat.

The only time he was at all equivocal was during Viet Nam. He didn't want to go.
