Fear
I think maybe its just me and all of you guys on DU. I'm not scared of a terrorist attack. I don't ever want one to happen again but I refuse to live in fear. I think when fear starts to control your life then you are basically dead. That's why I get so frustrated when people vote against their best interests just because they're scared. Like another poster said, New York City isn't being controlled by fear. The majority people in NYC are voting for what is best for this country. Just my little rant.

1. I live in 'flyover' country
Even when 9-11 was occurring, I suspected it was an "inside job" to a greater or lesser extent. The more I learn, the more I think the involvement of people such as Cheney was greater rather than lesser.

I don't fear Cheney. And if the threat of terror were actually from outside our borders and shores, you better believe they would have shut down same by now. And that never happened. By their actions they are proving that they control the process, from the phony terror alerts to the bogus bin Laden videos and audios.

I would say I am frustrated, but not surprised, that the dumbed-down public can't see through the government 'terra' smokescreen. Instead, they rally around the very same government that is very likely behind most of it. It is indeed Orwellian. It makes me just about give up hope on the human race, or at least the American segment thereof.

2. A fine rant
I'm with you 100 percent. And I live three miles south of the Pentagon. I saw the clouds of smoke lift up after the plane hit on 9/11.

Ever since then, when people blather about "being safe" or "national security" or anything of the sort, I just say that all it takes is one suicide bomber on the Metro at rush hour or in Nordstrom on Saturday afternoon or on I-395 on a Saturday night to make life a little less comfortable for us all.

There is no protecting against that.

Meanwhile, our airliners fly with cargo uninspected, while the passengers have to take off their shoes to make sure no one's loaded a bomb into their hiking boots.

Remember duct tape and plastic sheeting? Where is John Asshat these days, anyway? Off burning some non-believers?

This is all Bush and his thugs have got. "We can keep you safe," is his mantra. Well, then, why didn't you do it on 9/11, you flaming asshole?

(Sorry. I sort of lost it in that last line.)

3. I agree with you
I am really not afraid of a terrorist attack. What truly frightens me is a) four more years of Bush and b) what he and his minions might "arrange" to befall us prior to the election, or shortly thereafter if things aren't going their way. The fact that they will not accept responsibility for ANYTHING that's happened during their watch will explain why, when said "attack" occurs, they will declare it has nothing to do with them and their total incompetence and inability to keep us safe. It's their little "gotcha" game and they will as always care nothing about who and what gets destroyed. I hate and fear them with good reason.

We must defeat Bush. We know the truth now, and it must set us free!

4. I was a clip of Kerry
earlier saying "Vote for your Hopes, NOT for your Fears"

5. Not terribly concerned
But will be MORE concerned if * wins than if Kerry does. I just don't get these people who think the Chimp is 'stronger on national security' and 'handles terrorism better'. We all already saw how his administration handled warnings prior to 9/11. Why do they want to give them another chance?
