Hoo Boy! I Think I Have Lost Another Sister Because of * !
I received an e-mail from my older sister this morning. It was that repuke spam about JK being a flip-flopper. It was totally false and taken out of context and not worth me linking it because of the BS.

Now she and I have not engaged in this political stuff much in the past. As a matter of fact we hardly talk anymore except at family functions a couple of times a year.

I decided to reply to her in the least inflammatory way and ask she not send anymore BS spam because it won't work on me.

She replyed back and went on and on about how sad I would vote for a fraud like JK. Her vote will delete mine! Did I see him in the camouflage goose hunting ... YADA YADA YADA... :puke:

Well I let it rip back to her and sent a photo of our dead soldiers from the memorial yesterday in Washington. I asked if it was okay for them to die for a lie, or did she believe as all of bush's kool-aid drinkers do that they are "fighting for our freedoms" and because "sadddam was a bad man"?

I also said that there is a reason bush is the "most hated man in the world. it is because he is a destroyer.

I ended by saying I was sad she had started this little email war and it was now going to end. I deleted her from my e-mail list.

I feel a little sad but felt the need to not let it pass without defending our next president.

1. She can't have it both ways.....

he's either a "flip-flopper" or "consistently liberal"; he can't be both.

14. i hope that i am "born again" and thats exactly why i love kerry!
the man is just flat out going to be awesome. so much intelligence and warmth and integrity. hes got a good sense of humor too...

i trust him to embrace life and not the culture of death that we currently have. i dont want to speak poorly of bush or his brand of Christianity but what ive seen and read about make me weep for those who are suffering so, and paying a dear price for his and his administrations outright choices.

i havent wanted and rooted FOR someone to win the wh this badly. i admire jimmy carter so verymuch but he wasnt an insider, wasnt experienced in federal govt, but also he wasnt going to play the washington games that are unfortunately necessary sometimes. jk is experienced and so many other things that will make him an incredible president.

3. I know exactly how it is as I have family members who have not
seen the light yet and actually believe Bush's lies. This proves that he is the ultimate divider, and his divisiveness has infiltrated family life.

There's not much you can do. The statistics on ignorance of the Republicans is appalling. Attempts at appealing to her with logic won't work. Instead I take the adult gambit and tell them the world ain't black and white unless you're color blind. Get them thinking about that tunnel vision thing.

I said bush depended on people like her, as his base consists of the very wealthy and the very uninformed.

Kerry sticker on my car. But I think we'll be okay.

It's my mother-in-law that bugs me. She's very into watching CNN and the crappy spin, and appears to soak up all the GOP lies. She never votes, though, so if Kerry wins, I'm sure she'll try to give me grief the first time he does something she doesn't like. I'll have to try and find a way to politely tell her that she shouldn't comment since she doesn't care enough to vote.

Please don't give up on your sister. These things have a way of working themselves out over the long run.

8. I know the emotions are a little raw right now...
but just consider, this is your sister. She'll still be your sister long after this election and history just desserts will have been dealt to shrub.

This is the same kind of crap I saw back in the 60's, early 70's where families were absolutely torn by anger and resentment, largely because of the unwillingness of one segment of the population that could not find the internal strength to look in the mirror and admit a mistake has been made and they were a part of it. so the thing to do was to degrade and vilify the ones that had the courage to speak truth to power.

Like I said, I know its a little difficult to deal with, right now - but try and consider the difficulties your sister is dealing with, the mental, emotional and moral gymnastics she is doing trying to defend the indefensible within her own mind. It won't be rational, it won't make sense - but in the end - she is still your sister, and you could do her a lot more good by keeping that in mind and keeping your head screwed on straight at a time like this ....

my apologies if this was a little impertinent and forward of me to barge into your personal relationships like this; just feel like I've been there and done this before

9. The good news
Is we can spend the next 24 years (Kerry, Edwards, Obama) telling these right wingers "support the President, we're in a "war on terror".

18. Thanks but that is what scares me....
All of my sisters are college graduates and this particular one is working on her PHD! They truly have a disconnect from reality. This is what happen when you isolate your current event info to rush and faux.

We are having a little war right now. She keeps changing screen names and I keep blocking them! Oh Joy, Christmas will be such fun this year!

19. I think I did better...
I said... You want to talk about dress up? How about the most embarrassing moment in US Political history when bush* put on a flight suit, pretended to be a pilot and stood on an aircraft carrier proclaiming "mission accomplished'! Shoot he could not even use it in his campaign!

13. I have fun asking people what would happen if they ran out of money
and were out of a job. Or had a car accident. Ask them who would take care of them. How they will make it on the street, etc... then anjoy listening to them backstep.

15. Same here---but it was sister-in-law. I sent back an e-mail with the
truth in it. She never responded. THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

Bush supporters are generally not well informed, don't keep up with the issues like we do, don't read political articles or watch must national news, and don't watch political programs or C-Span.

You can't really discuss the merits of issues with people like that. You'd have to give them a basics course on issues before you could even begin discussing the sides of issues.

They vote because of religion or anti-affirmative action or anti-gay or pro-heavy tax cuts weighted to the wealthy. Those are their issues, depending on the group they are in. They really don't care about other people or the issues or what is best for the country or senior citizens. It's all about "them."

We're better off trying to appeal to the center folks, those who at least have a few reasoning skills, or at least can be swayed.

17. Sounds like a gain to me.
The last thing I need in my life are people devoid of critical thinking skills. IMHO, "family" is what we make, not what we're born with.

21. Same here, with no regrets
I am so tired of the idiocy. I refuse to speak to my sister and have lost friends and/or refuse to speak to others until after November. It's so sad, but keep ignoring her. Hard to do, but there is nothing more annoying than indifference. She really must be troubled or she wouldn't be trying to continue this.

Let her cool off. Then bombard her e-mail with articles and links, say one week from now.

* is such a Uniter, eh?
