Yard sign and bumper sticker wars...
Yesterday, as part of a Change for Kentucky effort, we canvassed neighborhoods for a Democratic Party candidate for state representative. 20 of us were there to do targeted canvassing of Democrats and Independents. 2 of the volunteers who knew this candidate were Bush supporters. We were bidden to hold our tongues before they arrived. It was civil. This past week, I have been putting out signs for a different Democratic candidate for State Representative. I saw her signs in a number of yards, alongside Bush signs. In Kentucky, it is commonly heard from voters: "I vote the person, not the party." The most heartening aspect of this work has been the number of Kerry signs out there, even in heavily Republican areas. I haven't seen it like this for a long time.
God bless us on our mission! JFK/2004!

1. Today I saw a Kerry sign next to Steve Swiggum sign
(RW-Minnesota House). Odd pairing, but i think that was a show of how Bush has alienated his base.

Canvassing today I got very favorable remarks on Kerry, only one neg.

Not often, but a couple of times. I made a WTF face myself.

5. My father is afraid to put up a kerry sign or bumper sticker
He says he can't afford the cost of the damage that republican
vandals will do to him. Then he went on a long tirade about how
angry he was after serving in the Army Air Corps WW2, that he
now has to be afraid for his politics, when the democratic party
has always been the champion of justice.

.. and this on mercer island seattle..!

6. God bless your father!
My nephew was driving my sister's car that had an "Impeach Bush" bumper sticker on it. A male driver tried to run him off the road, screaming at him how he hated that bumper sticker.
Such narrow minded, biggoted people!
