Why I never voted in 2000
I moved to the USA in '99, and had no idea about politics or what each party stood for. I truly believed that America was the greatest country on earth, with fabulous wealth, and a solid foundation of justice and truth, and it didn't matter in the least who was president. Nobody could screw it up. So why bother voting.

How wrong I was. This Iraq fiasco has been a shameful thing to witness. The Democrats have really pussy-footed around the whole mess also, but they still get my vote. Bush is the asshole who drove us into the wall, so why on earth give him the wheel again.

But more that that, why is Bush even allowed to run for re-election? Why isn't he in a holding cell right now, just like Saddam was, awaiting his war crimes court date? That is the real mystery of it.

After all the horror that has been committed, nobody is being held accountable. Is this election just a massive distraction? When Bush loses (which he will), will we feel that he has been punished for the evil that he unleashed and for the tens of thousands of lives he has destroyed? He will retire to a life of unimaginable luxury and privilege, far beyond what most of us could hope for. How Americans can accept this is beyond me.

2. Wow, you pose some great questions! I, too, have wondered the same...
and, up until the bush admin, also believed that the US was a close cousin to Canada, some differences but, intrinsically, the same when looking at the real issues of freedom and real democracy. I hope you have voted for a return to democracy and for the path back to credibility.

6. Moi? From Canada, of course...
more specifically, British Columbia, Canada! We are watching the contest south of our border with GREAT interest and I have confidence the US people will choose wisely as they did in 2000 with the additional 5% that will make the USSC participation moot! (Not to mention that even I, a person from "a third world country" knows that the USSC shouldn't have had a part in the 2000 election in the first place according to the US Constitution.)

5. If you aren't a USA citizen I don't believe you can vote.
I do appreciate your heartfelt insight though.
