Ok, Seriously, I have a question . . . |
|
. . . people keep telling me that we had the right to attack Iraq even if they didn't have WMD. They are talking about UN resolutions of some sort. The thing I don't understand is that if the UN is a useless organization and needs to be done away with then why are we justifying our war with their "worthless" resolutions?

Thank YOU!

never appears to be obvious.

4. the reich transparently uses ANY argument that serves its purposes |

they are the ultimate "say anything, do anything" pack of liars.
in the 2000 election, they argued exact opposite positions in different florida counties, based solely on the politically relevant demographics.
and in your example, they use the u.n. resolution because they can, despite the fact that the u.n. didn't authorize military action, and certainly they didn't authorize shrub to do it outside of u.n. authority. nor does shrub have any interest in enforcing any OTHER u.n. resolutions. whenever THOSE come up, suddenly the u.n. is back to being an irrelevant institution that should be dismantled.
there's just NO POINT of even HAVING an intellectual discussion with people like this, because that's just a sideshow to let people THINK that decisions are being made based on such discussions. the fact is, they make decisions just like any dictatorial regime does, and then they try to sell it however they can. but the logic used to sell the decision has NOTHING to do with the logic used to MAKE the decision.

5. Yes, more: having their cake and eating it, too. |

We ignored the UN when it was convenient for us, so we could shock and awe a leader who ignored the UN when it was convenient for him.
Hmmmmmmmmmm
