Democrats are grown-ups.. Republicans are (spoiled)children
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 11:00 PM by SoCalDem

Democrats know that bills must be paid.
Democrats know that things we need, cost money.
Democrats know that we sometimes cannot have everything we "want".
Democrats pay their bills before they loan money to their friends.
Democrats know that education is not cheap.
Democrats know that preventive medicine is cheaper than emergency care.
Democrats know that they owe a debt to the previous generation.
Democrats know that they owe a promise to the future generations.
Democrats know that patience pays off.
Democrats know that humans sometimes make mistakes.
Democrats own up to their mistakes.
Democrats know that friendship must be cultivated, and there must be give and take.
Democrats know that not everyone can be a "success", no matter how hard they try.
Democrats know that ALL people are of equal value.
Democrats know that people are entitled to their privacy.(as long as they do not break the law)
Democrats know that actions speak louder than words.
Democrats pray for peace and understanding

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Republicans spend now, and borrow later
Republicans take what they want, even if it's more than they need
Republicans pay back their cronies and financial backers, to the detriment of their constituents
Republicans believe that education should be cheap (unless iit's for their kids)
Republicans believe that health care is a luxury for only the welll to do
Republicans are convinced that all they have is theirs to keep, and they owe nothing to anyone..before or after them
Republicans are the instant gratification party. Patience is no virtue to them (except for things like taking over the media)
Republicans look for others to blame for their failures
Republicans never make "adult" mistakes.. All mistakes are "youthful", no matter what the age of the perpetrator of said mistake.
Republicans are friends as long as they call all the shots. Any sign of dissent is rewarded by an unleashing of vitriol and vengeful abuse.
Republicans hold grudges dearer to their hearts than they do their children
Republicans are disdainful of anyone who has not "succeeded".
Republicans think they are the only ones with values
Republicans believe in privacy for themselves, but if the even suspect that someone else is doing something they disapprove of, they forfeit all rights to privacy.
Republicans mouth the words, but they do not follow through with actions.
Republican pray for vengeance .

$$$$$$$$$$$

Democrats are willing to work hard, play fair, and share what they have.

Republicans want their money to work hard for them, lie and steal to get even more, and they do not share..

They are very much the toddler for their whole lives..

Me...Mine....No... Mommmmmmy!!!!....Dadddddy!!!!

They make messes at will, and expect others to clean up after them. They pick fights, which then then run from, and send someone else to do their fighting.
They spend other people's money, and then lie when they are confronted.

They do not exhibit adult behavior.

5. Children, by their nature, are selfish..
It's not a slam against them.. it;s just the truth..

after we have helped them grow up, and taught them how to be caring, they grow out of their selfish ways :)

7. wellllllllll, actually..........
When my son was still a toddler himself, and just able to get around on his own power, he would hear a baby crying somewhere, and go to it, and try to comfort the baby.

I certainly didn't teach him that.

Would that the RWers had a toddler's compassion........

10. By that definition, we're all selfish. Survival characteristic.
I really don't think children are more "selfish" than adults.

But, other than that, your list is quite on target. :)

4. Republicans are children?
It was always my understanding that adults who have the mental capacity of a first grader (no offense to first graders) are retarded. Repubs are retards!!!!!

14. identity politics and maturity
I noticed, whilst reading a freeper guide to why liberals are two
faced nasties, the strong identity-binding of these folks, and they
presume that liberal people similarly are deeply identified with
the democratic party or liberalism in the same way they are
identified with their puerile immaturity.

I so reminds me of teenagers who discover an identity that separates
them from their parents. In that puberty, having someting to
wedge in between, is somehow a step in growing up to being a
separate free willed adult... and i myself took the path of strong
identification with my teenage cults. Whilst in that mindset,
it is near impossible to conceive of people who do not have a
need to be identified with anything in particular, that maturity to
be simply alive and happy has not yet sprouted.

I've noticed in arguing with some of these freeps on other boards,
that they try to get me angry by insulting what they think is my
identity-cult, be it "libbies" (liberals), "dumbos" (democrats) or
"cowards" (people who served in the US military) - a very ironic
twist for chickenhawks to use considering their own record of not
serving... "communists" "socialists" "faggots" the attempt is to
corner a mature person in to having the same narrow self-identification
as they themselves, and then to insult and destroy that cult
rhetorically.

What is so dang consistent is the puerile need to be in a cult at
all, and, in my view, that is the defining characteristic of
republicans.

16. That is so true - everyone I know who is a
republican seems to be a case of arrested development.

One striking similarity between them is that none of them have completely separated from their parents in a healthy or mature way. They are still being run by their old authoritative scripts.

or dancing to Mommy & Daddy's tune because they're too immature to be on their own :)
