Looted explosives: A major blow to Bush? |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 11:09 PM by Stevendsmith
Sorry, but I'll believe it when I see it
Yes, it's an almost incomprehensible tragedy. My god, the troops are being hit with this stuff. Unbelievable, impeachable incompetence.
But a knockout punch?
Maybe if we had a functioning press...a functioning democracy
But we don't.
Sorry, but the past four years have jaded the crap out of me.
I'll be ecstatic to be wrong about this.

5. Thanks for the link and info. |

If it actually had legs .Yes I think it would be rather damaging. *snip* The huge facility, called Al Qaqaa, was supposed to be under American military control but is now a no-man's land, still picked over by looters as recently as Sunday. United Nations weapons inspectors had monitored the explosives for many years, but White House and Pentagon officials acknowledge that the explosives vanished after the American invasion last year.

4. He's claiming he alone can keep us safe. |
|
All he had to do was place guards at a well-known site. He delegated our safety to incompetent men. This is Rummy's sword to fall on, bet he doesn't.

6. Maybe this is just the setup |
|
And that the October Surprise is Bush firing Rumsfeld or someone. You know, so he can show "strength" and "responsibility" even though it's really too little, too late.
On a side note, I find it highly ironic that we went into Iraq to disarm Saddam Hussein of weapons of mass destruction and ended up arming terrorists with a potential dirty nuke.

8. I'm afraid the American Public will see this as evidence of WMD and not |

belive that Bush knew anything. They will blame it on faulty UN inspections because UN withdrew after their Iraq Headquarters were blown up..so it's all UN's fault that the BIG CACHE was destroyed but left to be "looted."
That the NYT's reported this when they did ...in the middle of a vote is suspicious since they were involved in the cheerleading into Iraq via Judit Miller and Chalabi. Both NYT's and WaPo cheerleaded us in there and will cheerlead the "stolen cache" as evidence that Saddam has something, the UN was a failure for not destoying it, and that we probably will be attacked here in the US with what was stolen.
It's the way they spin this to keep us "Very Afraid" and Bush to be "Big Daddy" by blaming it all on someone else. :-( I hope I'm wrong...but I'm not going to think of this as anything but an attempt to throw the election to Bush at the last minute. This could have been revealed by the American Press earlier. The British papers and other local American papers have reported on this for a year. So, why now does NYT's and "Nelson Report" suddenly expose this as a "bombshell."
