Senator Biden for Secretary of State?
Personally I'd prefer Holbrooke - he is so sharp, but he may get NSA instead.

4. You're right. We can't spare a Senator.
I really rspect Joe Biden, and I don't think he's the perfect fit for Sec of State. Better at NSA or DOD. But we can't let him out of the Senate! Boy, life's a bitch when you're indispensable!

I'm trying to think of someone in the House! Or someone retired, like Bob Kerrey,

2. Holbrooke sits on a board with KISSINGER. No thanks!
Not a fan of Biden, either.

11. And recently signed a new PNAC letter.
Should Kerry's Advisors Sign PNAC Statements?

No thanks indeed. (Tho Biden isn't really any better IMO.)

14. It's a weird situation. It appears the letter wasn't a PNAC letter.
So if they signed the letter, and then PNAC snagged it, I can't in good conscience say they've deliberately endorsed PNAC. And if that's the case, let me say - GOOD! I'd like nothing but that.

How PNAC got the letter is still up in the air. I'm waiting to see the responses to emails some DUers sent out.

I dislike both Holbrooke and Biden for various reasons. I'd prefer we got some real progressives in the Cabinet, like Sheila Jackson Lee or Cynthia McKinney or Kucinich to balance out the moderates sure to make up the bulk of the appointments. I could see Lincoln Chafee in a spot, too - the man's an honorable Republican that has impressed me many times (voted against the war, for one).

3. Wes Clark.
That way we don't lose a senator. And he's at least as smart as Holbrooke, and they love him in Europe.

7. Wes would certainly be my first choice for secretary of state
He legally can't be secretary of defense, and Holbrook wants to be Natl Sec Advisor (so the story goes) so the State DDepartment seems perfect for the general..

13. I agree
He doesn't like war so he'll be more likely to want other solutions and he also knows how to work with people, respects other cultures, and is most likely to find those solutions and make them work. He's the perfect choice for Secy of State.

I'd love to see Bill Clinton sit on the U.S. Supreme Court . . . either he or Mario Cuomo (but Cuomo has already reportedly refused a bench seat on the USSupCt) . . .

9. I prefer Wes Clark.
I think he would be ideal for that position, and he ought to get something considering all the work that he's been putting into this campaign.

He's basically put his life and his other work on hold to devote all his time to working to get Kerry elected.
