The Draft
I would like a few opinions regarding an issue which I have become much more concerned with, the draft.

Bush, the lying sack of shit that he is, keeps saying he would not institute a draft. But the reality of it is, the Iraq escapade will continue for many years to come, and W, e.g. Witt-less, will likely add few more wars if he is re-elected.

My dilemma is that, as a physician, I will be called up first. The medical draft has already been planned according to a host of web sites. I have done four years in the USMC and know full well what military service is like. My life becomes irrelevant to the cause.

The problem is that I do not believe in the cause. I find my position conflicted. As a doctor I am not engaged in killing the enemy, but helping save the lives of American kids who got sucked up into this nonsense. Our fighting military are victims as are the thousands of innocent Iraqis being killed every day in Bush's Folly.

Thoughts on the subject?

If Bush institutes the draft
1. Move out of the US. Canada or maybe
Amsterdam, I loved those crazy pot bars.
2. Hide, don't register and hope they don't
find me.
3. Register and if they call me up refuse to
carry a sidearm or participate in any action
that would harm another human being.
4. Suck it up, Register and hope to survive.
If Kerry institutes the draft, don't sneer, I am, and I
suspect most of you are, more left than Kerry. He
is inheriting a war he did not create and must
now get us out while trying not to create civil
war. And has not declared that he will
immediately leave Iraq.
Options same as above but I would be more
likely to do 3 or 4 as I think Kerry
honestly cares and will try to get our kids out
of the Iraq quagmire.

1. The draft is coming regardless of The president we have
It's about our Oil economy and demand. WE need it, they have it..The "Axis of Evil"s nations all threated to come off the dollars in favor of the Euro for all their oil. That would ruin our ecomomy and can not happen. The American people would never understand or get this, hence the bullshit excuses they give....This is the reality..I don't agree with it but this is the reason and the oil wars are just begining.

2. We are slaves
I tend to agree, we are an oil dependent society and nothing has been done to change this, other than inject ourselves into the middle east. And I agree, this wont be the end to wars for oil and the draft will be likely regardless of the president we elect in November.

What we need is a president who realizes this and can direct the nation to less dependence on petroleum. This is not George "the chimp" Bush.

3. you are very smart and a realist...
However, it's too late to reverse Peak Oil...The infrastructure is too vast to simply replace with an alternative energy before our economy fails. We are headed for Devistation.....Sooner or later.
