a new member "insultedveteran" is ww2 vet. he would like to know who else
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 01:06 AM by faithnotgreed
here is a veteran for kerry.... i wanted to help him but the archive function is shut down right now so i cant search for the veterans thread, and since he is so new, i cant private mail him

i recommended he email vetwife though i dont know if he can since he is so new. please can you give any advice about what else to tell him. he has just posted tonight on gd thread "iraq vet go dore to dore" i think it was called...

he needs and deserves our support and i would like to give him a warm welcome and provide him contact with other veterans as he says he would like to know who else feels as he does. he says his age prevents him from being very active incl online so i would like to consolidate information provided him

any ideas from anyone? thank you so much~!

on edit: if you would at least like to check in on that thread to welcome him, i would appreciate it. and also, what is the best veterans for kerry website? he specifically asked if there are others here on this site but if anyone can recommend the best vets for kerry site, that would be something positive anyway

3. thank you alittlelark.
he sounds thoughtful and sincere and i would like to help him if i can. my heart goes out to all soldiers and veterans, perhaps esp to those who are aware of the tragedy that is this war because they know war really is hell and know that this is not a war our soldiers should be fighting.

and yeah - i know about luddites. i can actually relate to their beliefs. i appreciate simple living and not buying into this "bigger better" world.
now that im on du, thats all shot! its about the only website i go to now.

I saw his response to the original post. You are, I believe, right. I wish I could help w/ posters, but the best bet is to wait 'till the morning - keep it kicked or re-post.

Leave us have no doubt about that at all.

But there was just a reunion for all the people who worked on something, I think it was Pascal, but I'm not sure, and my BIL got a citation for being part of it. Which was very nice.

Hi

I'm a vet for Kerry. Actually posted here a couple times but realized I was using my name for the screen name hehe soo thought would change it, soo still a newb =). Wishing I was living in a "swing state" as swading people from voting from Chimp to Kerry here in CA just doesn't feel like I'm doing much since this state goes "blue" anyway.

EDIT: was in Army from 91-95, missed Desert Storm v1.0 but saw Somalia and Haiti.

58. A hearty Welcome IV!!
There are vets in here at any given time. They don't always advertise their history...but stay with us and you'll see them when they pop up; usually by the tone/type of their message.

My father n law was WWII era..stationed at Pearl Harbor with his family when it was hit.

My hubby is Viet Nam Vet. No one in my family has an ounce of respect for Bush in terms of his "war" policy nor the way he and his crew have conducted such. We don't like his inattention to the veterans coming back from Iraq--or any war for that matter.

We think he is a callous and careless commander n chief in times of national trouble. We support the military but DO NOT support Bush and his crew. Bush couldn't lead a boyscout troop, IMO

WELCOME AGAIN :hi:

He claims to be independant but voted for Gore (environment) and he's ABB this year (already voted for Kerry). Actually, he's been ABB since the whole McCain/2000 thing.

We endured years of being attacked by others in the military for not being card carrying repubs. I sat through many a tupperware party during the Clinton years listening the bashing. It was painful. Now we're the evil ones who dare say negative thing against *.

Most of these wives were sahm's running up their credit cards to act rich. But that's a whole other post.

43. New to this Board, I'm a Nam Vet and am having a problem with
Kerry

I retired in 83. Did 4 years in the 'Nam as a Combat Medic and while Kerry was testifing before the Fullbright Commission, I was getting my third Purple Heart.

A lot of time has past since those days and a lot of ill will has been spread on both sides, by people with good intentions.

I'd like some non infalmatory info from 'Nam Vets, on their views on Kerry. I've done my homework on W, I've got 3 sons on AD , 2 incountry and one in Ranger school, so don't go there, they are grwon men and have made up their mind's. Wanna hear from my peers on this.

46. I'm a Vietnam vet (1st Cav 67-68) and a definite Kerry supporter,
but I suspect that my intellectual history is somewhat different from yours. I came back from Vietnam with the antiwar seeds already planted & started grad school at Madison, where the seeds flourished in that information-rich hotbed of the antiwar movement. As a result I never did have a problem with Kerry's testimony, or with Vets for Peace or VVAW, for that matter.

I do ask that you read Kerry's FULL testimony before Congress before judging what he said. Try this site for a balanced view:

http://www.republicansforkerry.org/

Swiftboat Vets, Iraq Vets:
John Kerry Was and Is Your Best Friend

In discussing Ronald Reagan, a line from one of his movies is
sometimes used:

"Where's the rest of me?!" --as Drake McHugh in the 1942 film,
King's Row.

Swiftboat Vets ought to give the same kind of consideration to John
Kerry. Because what he stood for – particularly in the rest of his
testimony before Congress in 1971, gives a real clue to the meaning of
his post-war activities, which have become the source of so much
bitterness this election season.

Let's parse his words. First of all, Kerry's testimony was for the
purpose of calling the leadership of that era to account for having
entered into that war in the first place:

(Much more, including un-redacted testimony).

57. Vietnam Era USAF
Fought the "battle of North Dakota" myself---well, that's where they sent me.

I was won over to Kerry when I investigated what he has done for Vets (including the MIA project with McCain) and by who is supporting him: Wesley Clark and Max Cleland for two.

Ask yourself: when your sons come home and perhaps run for office, do you want their service dismissed and smeared like that of Kerry, Clark or Clelland? I don't and I don't know your boys. But, I don't want ANYONE'S service to be smeared, ridiculed and reduced. Anyone who allows this to be done on their behalf without speaking out strongly to condemn it in no uncertain terms is beneath contempt.
