Schwarzenegger is trying to rewrite history!
And it looks like he's succeeding -- with the help of "journalists". One could easily argue (and I've seen many who have) that the statement, "The Indian gaming tribes with Proposition 70 are trying to rip off California." is not racist. But that is not what Schwarzenegger said! The comment that got Schwarzenegger into trouble was actually, simply, "The Indians are ripping us off."

Schwarzenegger is trying to pull a bait-and-switch regarding his original comment. He now says, "Read my lips: The Indian gaming tribes behind Proposition 70 are trying to rip off California. I will say it again and again and again. That's why they are upset. Because the truth hurts." Notice how he is trying to imply that this new comment is the same as his original comment? It is not!

Take a look at this article from Reuters:
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=domesticNews&storyID=6587151&src=rss/domesticNews§ion=news

Notice how the story is being manipulated? Notice that the article does not include Schwarzenegger's original comment? Notice how they are trying to give the impression that groups are upset over Schwarzenegger's criticism of Native American casinos rather than at his insensitive remarks which clearly reflect an "us against them" mentality?

I might add that I personally have no strong opinions on the casino issue itself. I don't live in an area of the country where it's a big concern, and I haven't taken the time to research the issue in any depth. My objection is to the revisionism I see happening with this story.

1. Ahnold is a goose-stepping fool
who doesn't know squat about California, much less, USA history. We are not being screwed by Native Americans, California is being screwed by the fool special interests put in Sacramento. Ever California should vote the opposite of what he says. Ripping us off?!!! Just go to the Reservations and ask the poorest people in the USA if they think they are ripping the USA off. Disgusting.

2. It's the Gaming Companies. The Indians are front-men.

4. I agree
Thunder Valley Casino near me is clearing over $5,000,000 per week. That's the share that the "tribe" gets. I'm sure that the gaming companies are clearing a like amount. Personally, I prefer to drive the 100+ miles to Reno.

6. How is it a ripoff
when people go to casinos and part with their money voluntarily? And, for the record, I've been to two casinos, one in Detroit, one in upstate New York, all within the past two months, and I have to tell you -- these are not the sharp-dressed high rollers that are coming in here. These places are packed to the gills with smoking, blue-collar types who probably don't, under Monkey Boy's regime, have a pot to piss in, but there they are, hour after hour, pissing away their life savings on some weak-ass hope of "striking it rich". Yet no one put a gun to their heads to get them in the door -- they all went of their own volition. So, once again, the Gropenator is a complete imbecile.

7. i think that the rip-off
is the tremendous tax incentive - the gaming folks partner with the tribes so that no $$ from this lucrative business has to go to the state. isn't that how it works?
