Here They Are Folks, Getting Ready to Hijack The Election
In Ohio, the GOP are recruiting volunteers to challenge voters qualifications, what does this sound like to you,

a) Ohio is going to be another Florida

b) They are ready to rigged the Election again

The question is are we going to let them do this sh*t again

1. Don't let them. Join the election protection army:
www.electionprotection.org

We'll only let them "do this shit" if we don't step away from our keyboards long enough to do something to stop them!

I'm signed on, and working at the local Kerry HQ all week. Are you?

2. One thing I haven't been able to figure out...
... What do they base a challenge on?

Is it basically just, "Hey, that guy doesn't look like he should be voting here"?

Seriously, how can this be anything but random harassment?

4. I am getting warned of this tomorrow
morning when I go to my pollworker class in Hardin County OH. I was also told that this afternoon that I will be to expecting goons so to speak to harrass us.

5. Is this legal?
Somehow, I doubt it.

It's voter intimidation.

Voter registration is checked at the polls, not by self-appointed voter registration vigilante groups.

6. Yes, unfortunately
it is legal, based on a 1953 law.

The republicans have registered a challenger for every precinct in the major urban areas and have at least partial coverage elsewhere.

The challengers are allowed to challenge (to an election worker) any voter they believe is not entitled to vote based on a few specific reasons (I read them yesterday - I believe there are four, things like not a resident of the jurisdiction and not old enough to vote. Unfortunately, I can't find the article). Once challenged, the poll judge has to decide whether to permit the voter to vote. I'm not sure how provisional ballots fit in - my guess is that a challenged voter would be allowed to cast a provisional ballot and they would decide later whether to count it or not.
