You won't believe how NPR is reporting the missing explosives. |
|
"... the Al Kaka installation, once the center of Saddam Hussein's effort to acquire nuclear capabilities..."
No indication of *when* the installation was used for nuclear research, and it was completely irrelevant to the story anyway. Why include that tid-bit at all?

It was used for that purpose, and the explosives were to be used as detonators on nuclear bombs. I agree, they should have made it clear that this was during the distant past.
I quit donating to NPR this year. They have moved too far to the right and rely far to much on corporate sponsorships for my liking.
Not what it used to be.

the White House was once the source of a trumped-up excuse for war (Vietnam, I mean), but they don't generally mention that when reporting one of Bush's meetings.
You know what I mean. I was blown away by the piece, and I'm usually pretty oblivious to such things.

2. NPR sold out a couple of years ago |
|
to the fascists. I will no longer be a member, and plan to tell them that when they come sniffing around asking for money during their next "fundraiser."

5. Tell the national headquarters that... |
|
it's the stations that need the donations -- just find one that's still reliably liberal and donate to them, or tell NPR itself that their polices are affecting your donations on the local level.

The more money the public stations raise locally, the more federal money they get. Of course, if they raise less, they get less.
Support your local public radio stations!!!
Edited to add: Hey Jackpine...great idea.
I'm putting in a word for 89.1 WEMU (wemu.org) in Ypsilanti, Michigan. It was the only local public radio station which provided the opportunity for each candidate (within its listening area) to have five minutes of air time before the August primaries. And we can get five public radio stations here. Not to mention, it's one of a handful of stations across the country with true jazz and blues programming.

11. Let me put in a pitch here for Wisconsin Public Radio |
|
plus two independent public stations, WORT and WOJB.
They all deserve continued support for their Wisconsin-based programming. The talk show hosts do a really great job & the guests are from all over the map, literally & figuratively.

3. NPR is owned by the Republican-controlled feds |
|
This is true of every other government department as well. Bushco has made a concerted effort to root out long-time bureaucrats, many of whom were sensible, well-educated, non-partisan, and qualified to do their jobs. They've been forced out and replaced by bushco appointees who are incompetent, clueless, moranic ideologues.

they both suck now.
edit: are they trying to kill them?
PBS has been begging for donations, all the time lately...are they hoping to drive away the liberal listeners so both orgs go belly up?

7. Why? Because they're NPR. |
|
And it's called "Sowing Seeds of DOUBT".
Oh, well, who gives a shit, they still got Keilor and that funny Mike Feldman feller...and you can learn SO much on how to maintain your Volvo by listening to Click and Clack. Even though most Vovlo owners let Jorgie at the agency handle that stuff... <sarcasm>

Radio Marti, and all the other 24/7/52 Tokyo-Rose-type broadcasts that we use to bring freedom to the rest of the world.
I stopped listening to them long ago.
