Out-of-state roofers can't afford FL insurance...up to 2 years for repair.
This mentions only Ivan and Escambia County, but it will affect all of Florida. We are already hearing big rumbles about insurances not paying anyway, or paying a part....and then maybe not insuring at all.

Insurance Costs Add to Delay in Roof Repairs

The Associated Press

SNIP..."PENSACOLA -- Residents with roof damage caused by Hurricane Ivan may have to wait as much as two years before someone can start work on their property, an Escambia County building official said.

Many out-of-state roofers who arrived after Ivan struck Sept. 16 are finding they can't operate in Florida because of the high cost of the state's workers' compensation insurance.

Factor in a serious shortage of shingles, and the future looks bleak for homeowners hoping for roof repairs anytime soon, officials said.

"It's just my personal point of view, but, as it stands now, it could be a couple of years," Escambia County chief building inspector Danny Weeden said....."

I am sorry, but there is no excuse for this kind of delay. Tarps everywhere? This is wrong.

1. And just yesterday morning the Tallahassee Democrat was praising JEB
to the skies. About all the votes he will bring his brother, being such a mountain during the hurricanes. Oh, the whole state of Florida cannot get enough Jeb, the man who sacrificed for the Bush family, moving to Florida to run daddy's primary campaign in 1980. Luckily he stayed around and blessed Florida with his divinely inspired governmenting skills. No media bias to see here. Move along. Ok so I was a little sarcastic but the paper really did lick some boots in that story.
