Sign at the Faith Baptist Church in Avon, Indiana..who would Saddam vote |

for? I was so angry I couldn't see straight when I saw this. 317 272-4632 is the phone number. All I got was an answering machine but I asked the "pastor" in name only, more importantly who would Jesus vote for? I doubt a man who would start an uneccesary war that has killed thousands of innocent people and over 1100 of our young people. I also told him that this is America where religion and politics are separate for a reason.
My son called, my husband and 2 friends. My son also posted the number on his yahoo message board.
Feel free if you can to let this fool know what you think.

I don't want to call due to caller ID. But I might get the address and send them a copy of this little diddy of an article on Why Christians Should Vote Bush Out from Democracy for America. That really ticks me off but I'm so used to things like that around here in Indiana--lived here all my life practically.

When you get the dial tone, hit *67. You should get a few beeps and then a constant dial tone. Should block ID on the other end.

The Rev. Baxter of Richmond, Indiana is going coast-to-coast working for Bush/Cheney. The pastor is publisher of "Endtimes Magazine" which is pushing for hurrying up Armageddon. With Bush, he may have the right candidate!

Now that's a bit of a detour, but since you turned down that road.... please educate me. Where is this much vaunted seperation of Church and state declared or required? The only constitutional requirement I have ever seen was that the Government could not advocate a specific religion over another. From what angle are you speaking?
Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." That is in effect, if not in so many words, a separation of church and state. The Constitution also states that no one must pass a religious test to hold office. The fact is, the American government was founded at a time when hundreds of religious factions were springing up in America (as a result of the Great Awakening). The founding fathers realized that all religious groups were minorities in America, and thus recognized the need to keep any particular group from dominating government.
More specifically, there are laws concerning tax exempt organizations, such as but not limited to religious organizations, that state that they cannot endorse a candidate or party.
As for giving the pastor who put up that sign the benefit of the doubt, we all know what he is implicating (even though it is egregiously misleading), so let's not even play that game.
I like the quote in bold at the end of your post. It is very eloquent and quite right, and it is exactly why we must fight an administration that uses fear to erode our rights and take away our freedoms. The Bush administration has infringed on all but two of the first ten amendments to the Constitution (the Bill of Rights), and if we allow their arrogant, despotic policies to continue unimpeded, freedom will indeed be a thing of the past in America.

POLITICAL CRAP being preached instead of the gospel.
Church should be for ministering to men's/women's souls.......NOT FOR SWAYING THE WAY PEOPLE "SHOULD" VOTE!!
The "organized church" is becoming the too influential in the affairs of state. Not unlike the Catholic/Roman Church was in Europe before America came into being. WE DON'T WANT A THEOCRACY or ANY type of government that is "driven" by any particular sect of christianity or any other religion. Be reminded of the Saudi Arabian Model...NO THANKS.

that bar churches, due to their tax exempt status, from directly advocating one candidate vs another.
that's why they hand out "voter guides" that tell how candidates voted on the issues that are part of the "culture war" that the right wing will NEVER win, but the Republicans use these issues, which they will NEVER RESOLVE...because to do so would mean that people would wise up and vote according to their interests....like economic justice...
but I digress...they hand out voter guides but cannot advocate for candidate versus another.
...right wing churches are not for economic justice or education because those things would severly impact their membership roles.
but keeping a congregation outraged over what others are doing in the privacy of their homes is a real meal ticket.
However, the issue for me is that a church could be this fucking offensive and imply that one candidate would be the choice of Saddam.
But that just goes to show you what whores the right wing churches have become. money, money, money, honey.
