U.S. Troops Confirmed Explosives Intact At Al Qaqaa AFTER Invasion
"This stuff was well-known. Everyone knew it was there, and it should have been among the first sites to be secured," said a European diplomat familiar with the disappearance of the explosives, which was first reported Monday by The New York Times.

At the Pentagon, an official who monitors developments in Iraq said US-led coalition troops had searched Al-Qaqaa in the immediate aftermath of the March 2003 invasion and confirmed that the explosives, which had been under IAEA seal since 1991, were intact. Thereafter the site was not secured by U.S. forces, the official said, also speaking on condition of anonymity.

1. Could it be that certain US parties wanted this stuff to fall
into the wrong hands? I mean, if the "insurgency" ran out of ammo we'd need to scale back our own ammo production *cough cough*. Need to keep feeding the meat grinder for years to come, now don't we?

Cynical, yes. Unfathomable, no.

4. Nothing would surprise me with these neo-cons.
If there was no insurgency, how to justify our long-term presence?

Hey, maybe those terrorists Valerie Plame was tracking got the stuff...

2. Priorities my man, Priorities. So a few thousand people die or are
maimed. We had to protect the oil ministry and some key oil fields. So we lose some soldiers, they can be replaced. We can just weaken the economy some more so those poor rednecks will have to join the army to feed their families.
