Pentagon claims explosive cache raided before U.S. invasion....
Just heard this on CNN. Wolf Blitzer talking to David Ensor who reported that the Pentagon is now saying that that the 380 tons of explosives were likely taken BEFORE Bush invaded Iraq.

Now why didn't I think of that? SheeZ!

But another Pentagon official who spoke to the Associated Press seems to disagree ...

At the Pentagon, an official who monitors developments in Iraq said US-led coalition troops had searched Al-Qaqaa in the immediate aftermath of the March 2003 invasion and confirmed that the explosives, which had been under IAEA seal since 1991, were intact. Thereafter the site was not secured by U.S. forces, the official said, also speaking on condition of anonymity.

3. Thanks for the link...
Of course, if it can be spun, they'll spin it into its grave.

I just hope there will be some "official" confirmation that this absolutely happened after Bush invaded. You know damned well it did. :grr:

"The letter from Abbas informed the IAEA that since Sept. 4, 2003, looting at the Al-Qaqaa installation south of Baghdad had resulted in the loss of 214.67 tons of HMX, 155.68 tons of RDX and 6.39 tons of PETN explosives."

4. Wouldn't that mean that Saddam was an ineffectual leader?
Or was there a period between right before we invaded that Saddam wasn't leading Iraq? Or his sons. Does the Pentagon think they went into hiding BEFORE we got there?

I'm confused.

6. The insurgency was pre-planned. A trap, hence our easy 'victory'
