Saw terrific ad on Dobbs -- young vet from Iraq war, talking about
all the lies that led him and others to fight in Iraq, and none of it being true.

At the end, he shows his missing arm.

Very powerful!

The soldier was Robert Acosta, and the ad was put out by Operation Truth!

I commend this soldier for speaking out!

1. God bless him...

And I'm grateful to him for having the courage to stand up and tell just how he feels about the war in which he sacrificed so much. It's also reassuring to know that he speaks, apparently, for a whole LOT of felow Iraqi Freedom Operation vets!

B-)

4. You can see the ad here....
http://www.optruth.org/main.cfm

Looks like they are needing donations to get the ads on TV.

Looks to me like a great cause!

Kanary, who's going back to the site to leave a message of support.......

7. I've seen that ad also...
It's pretty powerful. My grandson is starting to sit up and take notice. He's 16 but pretty attentive to politics because I've made it dinner table talk for more than a year.

He has a conservative government teacher he likes to philosophically mind-jostle with... A young black female student said she would vote for Bush and my grandson asked her why..she said for "protection". I told him to ask her "what protection"? Told him to point out how BIG A FAILURE this president has already been in terms of protecting anybody anywhere.......plus, approx. 80% of voting Black Americans will be voting Kerry.

This evening, before grandson left for basketball, he told me he wasn't going to volunteer for military service if Bush wins. He told me something in his teenage "vernacular" (lol) that amounted to: There are too many soldiers being killed for NOTHING..and he didn't want to be part of a war started by this lunatic Bush. He said he'd go to jail first. Period. It amazes me he was even paying attention, let alone know as much as he seems to know about the government and this election. WOW..

8. Your post makes me realize that ad is very good for youth.....
I'm thinking it would be better for it to be on a program more likely to be seen by younger people.

I'm just selfish enough, though, to be very glad it was on Lou Dobbs tonight. :)

I'd write more about your grandson, but my eye is really hurtin'....

17. Has your grandson been talking with other 16-yr-olds about the war?
Do you get a sense of whether they are discussing this among themselves?

ON the one hand, I can't figure out how a 16-year-old could see it any differently from the way he is looking at it, but obviously there are a lot who do.

No, there is no further treatment for eye..... this is it for life. :( :( :( :(

It really stinks.

Thanks for thinking of me. :)

10. Received an email from Operation Truth today, in response to what
I wrote them.

It says they are now receiving a tremendous amount of mail, so I'm guessing a lot of people are seeing tat ad!

Hurrah!

For those who are able, I'm sure donations to them would be very welcome!

11. indeed
i saw this one a couple times in the past few days...great ad, but sadly, anyone that isn't voting for kerry seems unlikely to be affected by these ads at this point in the campaign.

13. Air America playing Jesse Ventura radio ad
"zing - that's the sound of a bullet ricocheting off your helmet,

boom - that's the sound of a landmine blowing up under your vehicle,

(chatter) - and that's the sound of people who have never heard those sounds making decisions about something they know nothing about. Maybe we should ask the people who were there. "

Bush is a goner.

In fact I'm going to ask his Navy seal friends in Norfolk what they think about that ad. One of them has a picture of himself with Jesse. The first near winner of Survivor, Rudy, is a Navy seal and friend of Ventura.

Great catch - I doubt I would have seen this one in Alabama or heard about this group without you passing this on. I've now passed it on to several friends and family members (which I rarely do, given the annoying amount of junk email I get from others!).

Replaying doesn't lessen its impact, either. Powerful, brutal reality.

Thank you SPC Acosta and http://www.optruth.org/main.cfm
