Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 12:44 AM by Miss Authoritiva
From Drudge

NBCNEWS: CACHE OF EXPLOSIVES VANISHED FROM SITE IN IRAQ BEFORE TROOPS ARRIVED...

"But tonight, NBCNEWS reported: The 380 tons of powerful conventional explosives were already missing back in April 10, 2003 -- when U.S. troops arrived at the installation south of Baghdad!

"An NBCNEWS crew embedded with troops moved in to secure the Al-Qaqaa weapons facility on April 10, 2003, one day after the liberation of Iraq.

"According to NBCNEWS, the HMX and RDX explosives were already missing when the American troops arrived."

5. He took that off the front page.
Telling that he left the page he linked to there to travel all over the place unmitigated despite being retracted.

8. Yup
Freepers already touting it on several message boards.

Course I linked them the most current timelines of events and articles I could find. All of which back up the NYT article. And reminded them that Drudge is an unreliable source and you should not believe anything read there without a triple dose of crosschecking multiple sources.

7. why would they suck on Drudge when the news is filled with stories
from many sources saying just the opposite? is their favorite pastime to imitate their hero, the short guy with his head up his butt?

9. Even worse, Noonan trying to spin explosives as "WMDs"
Her spin is bad for Bush any way you look at it.
As badly as this administration wanted to find WMDs, Ms Noonan would have believe that we knew about and sealed a cache of WMDs they would be so negligent as to allow the terrorists to make off with them?

The official news stories reported on April 3, 2003 that identified the cache of explosives (AP report) after US forces took over the site. So there is no question that the US military had control over these explosives before they went missing.

10. Drudge is actually right.
The NBC video is available at their website.

We need to seize on this and point out the contradictions in the WH lies and how this obviously points to a coverup.

11. Or a Rove set up maybe?
But who got the Iraqi officials to file the paperwork with the UN/IAEA?

I don't know. I'm getting more and more tin-foil hatty as it gets closer to the election.

12. The IAEA leaned hard on the Iraqi government, which apparently
forgot to obey Rove.

14. This is just playing upon media confusion over this story today....
Bush admin talking heads created confusion today by claiming that soldiers went through this area and basically found nothing.
They mentioned no "WMD" (relavence of that point is....?) and "some" explosives but nothing under IAEA seal.

Problem is that SEVERAL news sources had this info:

At the Pentagon, an official who monitors developments in Iraq said U.S.-led coalition troops had searched Al-Qaqaa in the immediate aftermath of the March 2003 invasion and confirmed that the explosives, under IAEA seal since 1991, were intact. Thereafter, the site was not secured by U.S. forces, the official said, also speaking on condition of anonymity.

So, there was a bit of a reality denial going on from Bushites today. The story will keep it's legs in order to sort this BS out tomorrow, I'm sure.

15. not true.
Drudge, who prides himself on being accurate 'most of the time' is dead wrong.
i will try to come up with a link, but I know one of the news services reported that most if not all of the 380 tons had been seen there a few weeks ago....

17. Watched Part of the 700 Club - Robertson Claimed Media Lied
He basically said that government organizations(the one that released a report I guess) and the media are going against Bush and they made up the story. He went on to say that Kerry has never done anything and has never handled anything at all in his time in the senate. Nevermind that Kerry has conducted investigations into corruption with the contras and the bank that was a front for drug and terrorist money. The investigation into hostages in Vietnam, etc. All he said was that Kerry was trained in debating and that's the only skill he had. I'm wondering what Bush was doing before he was president. I thought he was involved in several failed businesses and that was about it.
