Carrot or stick (Nantucket house v loss of job)? Carrot, and stick? Memos, emails, conversations, producers talking into earpieces, unspoken agreement? All of the above?

1. I'm not an insider, but...
Maria Bartiromo, on CNBC, will supposedly be interviewing a member of the Saudi Royal family who will deny that Saudis have been providing funds for the insurgency in Iraq (presumably via Iran?).

It should be remembered, if this was actually ever reported, that imams from the holiest Islamic Mosques in Saudi Arabia have consistently condemned the war on Iraq. From April 10, 2004:

...the imam asked how missiles and machine guns could bring peace and freedom to the people of Palestine and Iraq. “They promise them a comfortable life built on torn bodies...They want us to believe that destruction is reform, killing is life, disorder is order and injustice is justice,” he added. <they must be learning about Bush-speak>

<snip>

The imam said the Islamic world was passing through a difficult phase. “The Muslim nation finds no refuge from the injustice of the tyrant and international terrorism,” he said.

2. Saudi Arabia will support Kerry....

Maria Bartiromo interviewed Adel al-Jubeir the foreign affairs advisor to Crown Prince Abdullah. He said that Saudi Arabia has good relations with John Kerry going back 20 years and that Kerry's record on fighting terrorism is "very clear," contradicting claims by the Bush camp that his record is otherwise. He also seemed to indicate that the present concern with supplying oil to the world has to do with infrastructure and shipping.
