Poll question: who was the more stupid president? |
|
i've been giving this some thought, and as inept as Bush is, the more i read and hear about Reagan, the more it seems like they're about dead even. at least reagan had old age and senility as an excuse, though.

2. Reagan was senile, but he didn't invade Iraq! |
|
When the marines got blown up in Lebanon, Reagan admitted his mistake and got the hell out of there. He did invade Grenada to cover his mistake, but Grenada was militarily a joke.
Reagan also realized his tax cuts were creating deficits that were getting out of hand, so he signed several tax increases to try to stem the bleeding.
Reagan was a terrible president and did much more harm than good. But, nothing he did couldn't be recovered from. Bush* is an utter disaster. His trail of failures will linger and prove even more disastrous in the future.

5. All you have to do is look at the condition of the country |
|
Reagan was terrible and made a lot of mistakes but the country was nowhere near in the shape that it's in now. We're in a quagmire in Iraq and while the deficit exploded under Reagan, it is even worse under Bush. With Reagan, we still had the respect and alliance of much of the world - with Bush, those days are gone. The economy was not in the best of shape under Reagan - it's worse under Bush. Worst job record since Hoover - that's saying a lot.

7. Reagan was dumber, but had smarter handlers |
|
Reagan was not all there for most of his second term. He was, however, a good actor, and knew how to play to the cameras... while those behind the throne made all the decisions. Though I disagree with many of those decisions, I must say that Reagan's presidency was nowhere near the disaster that that of Bush the Lesser has been.
Bush may be smarter than Reagan was, but Lord, he ain't bright. And his handlers that tell him what to do and say aren't much brighter than he is. That's the difference: while Reagan had semi-competent people telling him what to do and say, there is no such member of the Bush coterie.

Has a head shot of Bush in one of his dumber muggings (is that an oxymoron or what?) and it says; "LIKE A ROCK, ONLY DUMBER."
