1. You're not provided with a script? Every PB effort I've ever done had one

Whoever was in charge of the effort, along with the candidate, decided what the script du jour was. :shrug:

2. When I first started phone-banking...

I went by script, but realized that didn't work too well. By listening for a while to some of the "opening lines" of the other phone bankers I was able to work out my best lines that made me most comfortable and seemed to get to the point easier. By now, the people you are calling are probably id'd as Kerry supporters or leaners, so the matter know is to get them out to vote. I try and make my call more of "courtesy call" and ask if they have any questions about voting places, registration or any issues that need to be clarified. That seems to take the edge off and not make it seem like another annoying call. Hope that helps and good luck. You are doing a most important job!
