Alert Hardcore Conservative Christians To Bush's Views On Civil Unions
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 08:19 PM by InfoMinister
I think this is the best tactic we could use in order to convince the Evangelists that voting for Bush isn't a good idea. Bush's catering to the evangelists during 2000 was one of the key ways he was able to get a large amount of votes. Revealing this information could change that this year.

"Bush Says His Party Is Wrong to Oppose Gay Civil Unions
By ELISABETH BUMILLER

Published: October 26, 2004

WASHINGTON, Oct. 25 - President Bush said in an interview this past weekend that he disagreed with the Republican Party platform opposing civil unions of same-sex couples and that the matter should be left up to the states.

Mr. Bush has previously said that states should be permitted to allow same-sex unions, even though White House officials have said he would not have endorsed such unions as governor of Texas. But Mr. Bush has never before made a point of so publicly disagreeing with his party's official position on the issue.

In an interview on Sunday with Charles Gibson, an anchor of "Good Morning America" on ABC, Mr. Bush said, "I don't think we should deny people rights to a civil union, a legal arrangement, if that's what a state chooses to do so." ABC, which broadcast part of the interview on Monday, is to broadcast the part about civil unions on Tuesday.

According to an ABC transcript, Mr. Gibson then noted to Mr. Bush that the Republican Party platform opposed civil unions. "Well, I don't," Mr. Bush replied."

3. Appeal to bigotry of the CONS...
Like calling Bush a "Faggot Enabler" or even better a "Straight Traitor".

This message brought to you from a man who is going to be the best man in a gay wedding, hopefully soon, whenever the ladies decide on a date.

4. Sorry man I think this is a lost cause...
they don't listen to reason in their opinions, they won't listen to reason when deciding who to vote for.

5. right..they don't listen to reason
they only respond to fear. So tell them that Bush is enabling homosexuals and that their only choice is to vote for Preoutka of the Constitution Party.

6. They Do Respond To This
This was on Free Republic:

"I am very disappointed to hear this. I am sure Bush will lose some voters over this. I know a registered democrat at work who is voting for Bush because he is against gay marriage and civil unions while Kerry is for civil unions. I have no idea why Bush is doing interviews now. If every one hears this than Bush on longer has all the social conservatives locked up.

8. The Kerry Board Is Sending Their Letters
Please take part in this. A few people on the Kerry board have sent in their letters. I told some people who are totally against gay marriage about this a little while ago and they are reconsidering their support of Bush. If you don't believe this will have an effect you are mistaken.

9. High theatre.
They must not just think we're all stupid...could they possibly KNOW we're that stupid?

We're all taught when we're pretty young that we can't have our cake and eat it, too......and that's really all the reasoning it takes to understand this issue. Something like saying that exposes that there are no ideologically driven issues in either party...there is merely pandering to keep the people quiet and confused....

11. That's the ad that ends it all
"George W Bush accuses John Kerry is changing positions. Yet one week before the election, he suddenly says he supports gay civil unions... Mr. pResident, what DO you believe in?"

That will KILL his GOTV efforts with religious wackos.

12. Well, I guess I'd rather people's hatred of me and my kind
be exploited in the service of electing John Kerry than the Evil One.

It's just such a shame that in the year 2004 it would all come down to homophobia.

We shall see - this may get my vote for "best Bush screw-up ever!" Really, what was he thinking?! He may have just lost Ohio with that!
