The GOP assaults on African American voting rights are beyond "normal".
It's beyond "normal" voter suppression. It's beyond "normal" politics.

As if the 2000 voter purge wasn't enough for those "race" baiting assholes they CONTINUE, time and time again, to target Blacks because of their statistical likelyhood (Or is it more than a statistical probability, is it just pure racism?) to vote against them!

Greg Palast has yet another example of their pathological contempt for one particular segment of our society.

When is enough "ENOUGH"? What's next? Poll Taxes? Jim Crow II? They're proceeding in a systematic way, in the open as well I'm sure in the shadows. We'll hear about the covert attacks after the election, or perhaps never at all.

Seriously, this has me so damned angry that I'm having a hard time staying calm when I'm discussing their criminal mindset with my Black co-workers/friends.

I admire the reserved outrage, in that I'm usually the one getting loud regarding the latest outrage, for these overt acts. I don't understand the the muted attitudes, well I suppose that a long history can do that but...but I probably can't imagine how they really feel.

As a member of an ethnic majority I'm probably incapable of imagining those feelings. I could imagine what I'd think but this thread would have to be deleted...

Why are these outrages allowed to continue?

When will the media be honest and call the GOP what it really is:

The Party of Racism.

The Party of Race Hatred.

2. Let's Call it What it Is
I've been thinking about this for days, as the stories have begun to surface. Registration forms being torn up. Wrong addresses being sent.

This is the new Jim Crow.

It's going to take a new Civil Rights Movement to defeat this. I remember as a young boy and teenager, watching the news from Selma, Montgomery, Atlanta, Little Rock.

Where are the new Black/African-American leaders, the new trips to the Mountain, the new visions of the Promised Land?

"In the words of the old Negro spirituals, Free at last, free at last, God Almighty, we're free at last!"

4. beyond human
just wanted you to know a lot of people out there agree w/ you. in ohio, in florida, in iowa a lot of nice folk were disgusted by their repub neighbors for their lightly veiled racism. a lot of them have gotten the impression that the only reason anyone is a republican out there is to just "help their own kind". it's horrible.
are these the assholes who think liberal is a dirty word?
honestly, the only neg things i heard from kerry supporters about shrubbies was on this very issue. people are seeing it for what it is, and are fighting against it. i was amazed that people brought it up.
what can we do about this list?
i want to call all these people and help them vote! any news org there if the florida calling people on the list? the outrage will be a great story !!!
i am praying that this is the final straw, and it wakes up the last complacent voters in every corner of florida, ohio, pa and iowa ...
maybe this will put us over thr top.
