Is there a good reason we the people of this nation are not stopping
what is happening in Fallujah? I guess it is much the same as how none of us are not able to stop what is happening in Israel/Palestine.

We have much to be responsible for. This is the US, this is our country, we are the people of this nation, are you a warmonger? When do we truly hold warmongers responsible for their deeds?

4. November 2, 2004, do you think the citizens in Fallujah care about
the US 11/2/2004. They've been suffering since April of 2003. Do you believe they really believe anything is going to change?

We owe the people of this town far more than just to wait until 11/02/04. I'm sorry, we do.

9. How about some humanity, some concern, medical supplies, end
the war with this town. Have you checked out the history of how this all started and how it has continued on? I know someone personally that was there last April.

What has happened in this town since April of 2003 is nothing but criminal. It has been a disaster waiting to happen. If I and my husband lived in this town, we would be militants now, or we would be called "insurgents" or .... and or.... We would be, because if we had been residents, we would have lost friends and relatives in this disaster and we would be angry at the occupation and "smart bombs".

We would be fighting the "occupation".

See you all later.

2. Control is on the way...
it begins with regime change at home.

My regret, my shame, my blame is that I didn't convince 1% more of my personal contacts to vote for Gore.

If I had, imagine the different world we would be living in...it is largely my fault and the fault of progressives like me who didn't work our fingers to the bone to defeat * in 2000.

I won't make that mistake again! We're takin' the country BACK!

3. Here's how I see it
I am voting this year to evict George W. Bush from the White House. I did not vote for him the first time either. I marched against this war three times. If the American people elect him to the presidency for the next four years, I am done. It's their responsibility, not mine. Sorry, but I'm almost spent. The people who should be held responsible are the fundamentalist wackos in rural Missouri who will gleefully vote to return this fool to office next week. The blame should be directed to them.

5. Thanks for your post and your heart. We feel much the same.
It's killing us both. God, please, don't let this happen. Are there not more of us, than them?

There are so many of us with peace in our hearts. Where do these other people come from? Are they reading a different "Bible" than we are? Did Jesus ever suggest dropping bombs on wedding parties? Did Jesus ever suggest dropping bombs at all? I think he said something about taking care of the least among you.

I can't reconcile what is happening. I don't understand women, men, mothers and or fathers, aunts and uncles, grandmas and grandpas, that say all of what is happening is okay.

Somthing is horrifically wrong in our world.

7. well, the people in charge are not reading the bible
except for talking points.

they have spent probably billions over the past 25 years trying to find just the formula that will make poor people vote for them, and with religion they think they have found it.

so they have to do something abhorrent to convince religious people otherwise, and wake up slackers enough to care.

10. So true
I read that all women and children are out of Falluja, as if just killing the men is merciful. I know these people are defending their homes and, frankly, does anybody know why we are destroying that city and those people? I have not heard one person, outside of DU, that is posing this question. Personally, I have no idea what to do. I would be happy if other people have ideas because I just don't know. I doubt we could even get aid into any of Iraq right now. Protesting doesn't seem to make a difference. What more can we do?

Our soldiers drove into this town in April of 2003 and set this whole nightmare up. What is happening in this town is so wrong. I don't know what to do. I've begged here for action, I've marched on the street, I've protested Halliburton in the conservative wasteland known as Dallas. I've called, I've rallied others to call, I just can't alone seem to stop what is happening in this town.

I just want everyone to stop for a minute and just think about how you would feel if this was happening in your suburb. China and or Russia or both along with the Mexico force had taken control of southern US and your town and they had set up command and control in your kids school. What would you do?

6. Its not much

But maybe we can give them chimp and his possee to do with as they please

I really feel for the people over there, we have turned their country / town into hell on earth, way to go mister "shock and awe" "war president".

I'm about spent as well, been working my ass off to see that Chimp doesn't get re-elected but the fact that there are the people here who support him still!? Marched in the protests too, dealt with Repugs calling me Anti-American and all the other shit. It amazes me to no end which is what really has me gloomier and gloomier these days. Even when Kerry wins, the fact a good deal of the people here still think this administration is doing good by whats going on in Iraq really gets to me.

15. Contribute time
Especially in Ohio.Republicans have stated that they will personally challenge voters AT THE POLLS. Donate your time to make sure the repegs are kept in line! On the other hand, and I apologize if I sound mean, but these people need to understand that democracy doesnt happen overnight. America has been working at it for 200+ years and we still have shitloads of problems. We also cannot make things right unless we have help from other countries, and without leadership that TRULY wants to help and not just make a profit, nothing will get done.

unfortunately, baby steps.....

12. I hear you, anarchy
It is breaking my heart every day to know what is being done in my country's name to the people of Iraq.

* has become Saddam Hussein. * lied and spun us a tale of an evil dictator lying to his people ( and to himself.) In fact. * and Rove and Cheney were actually JEALOUS of the control Saddam had over the Iraqi people and they decided to prove they could be more brutal, cruel, destructive and evil.

They hired a known prisoner abuser to run Abu Ghraib!

When Kerry wins, we will have to do what we can to ease the suffering the Republicans have caused, but we can never truly heal the wounds of Iraq nor can we bring back the tens of thousands we killed.

This is why I hate - I mean HATE- the entire Republican party. It's time to bury the party of hatred and greed. On November 2nd we have a date to do just that.

I think most people are not aware of the carnage because of the lack of media attention. Heck I post photos from the Iraq massacre daily at DU with hardly a notice!

~snip~
Now, one of the things I've heard from people who found themselves supporting the war is that whether the UN went in or not, the fact is that there was a moral imperative. That Saddam was doing terrible things to his people and suppressing the Shi'ites, violating human rights and so on.

The only problem with that thinking is that it's been more than a year and a half since we went in. And right now, the abuses in the prisons, the bombings, and the attacks, the violence in the country are now being caused by us. Is that a moral position we want to be in? Of course, it is an unintended consequence, but it is still very much a consequence.

If Bush wins re-election, he will bomb and bomb and bomb. He's been doing that steadily every since the Allawi government was put in place by us. Since June 28, the bombing has gone up exponentially. Bombing, bombing, bombing. Civilian targets, civilian neighborhoods.

But I don't see anyone in the press worrying about it. I don't see them demanding to know how many sorties we're flying – have they grown? Are more bombs being dropped? What's the tonnage? We don't know any of that, do we?

16. Just say to yourself, Allawi/Negroponte -- Iran Contra.
What is different from then to now? When Negroponte was made the "new" ambassador, who could not have predicted what is happening now? Chaos is what this man excels in.

...it has always been my opinion that the Bush* Gang never could have 'taken' power without direct and indirect help from the ... Democratic party.

- The Bushies grew more emboldened every time the Dems backed down. From stolen elections without consequence to allowing Bush* to put together the most criminal admin. in history. Our party helped build the Bush* Frankenstein and now we seem to be watching helplessly as it destroys everything it touches.

- All we can do now is try to dismantle the monster after Nov 2nd.

18. Negroponte, Overlord of Evil in Honduras...
...during some of the worst days of the American Holocaust in Central America. I was not surprised when he was appointed ambassador to Iraq as I, like many of us on the left and some of us at the center, was not fooled for a minute when, in the Spring of 2002, Condelezza Rice announced indignantly that Iraq may be holding prisoner a downed pilot from the first days of Desert Storm (1991). All of a sudden, the feigned concern. I told my wife that we'll invade in 6 months (took a little longer I think because of the massive popular opposition to *'s imperial plans).

I recall at the very start of the administration when * appointed Elliot Abrams to a "humanitarian" position that all was lost (it amplified my fears already in place after the bloodless coup of December 12 2000). Here * was reinstalling some of the arch operatives and architects of our brutal repression in Central America -- it was clear: Bush intended to continue the transformative work of his father, the "Latinization" of America, where society in an age of limits is divided up into two camps: The wealthy and the thin sliver of well-off managers and magistrates that serve them, and everyone else, the biomass of pawns ("useless eaters" and "cannon fodder"). Any alternative model or hopeful example, be that free elections in the States, or an Iraq that chose (a year before the invasion) to price their oil in Euros, gets thoroughly crushed. The program is well underway; give Bush 4 more years and he'll complete it.

Ever wonder why Bush is so intent on destroying social security? Or why the oligarchs resist single payor healthcare so vehemently? It is to get us wholly dependent on the cash nexus, on corporate largesse -- to tie our hands to their jobs under their terms to labor at their whim. Class war writ large. Fascism. Welcome the New Imperium and the Fourth Reich! Bow down to your masters and sing praise for your crumbs!! <barf>

<thump> <thump> <thump> That sound? Just the syncopated rythms of jack-booted goose stepping brown shirts ready to disrupt the vote next Tuesday...

Is there anyone here that really cares about Fallujah? I think not.

Oh, I know there are a few of us, but only a few.

A massacre will happen, a town will be leveled, and we will all stand proud. We did it for democracy. NOT! I'm so sorry for what we've done.

We have a responsibility here to save this town and the people in it. To let our government level it to get a phantom is an outrage.
