Strange things are afoot at the Circle K (DC oddities) |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 09:52 AM by plurality
Coming to work I noticed the Metro Transit Bomb Squad was parked in front of Metro Center, then a couple minutes ago I noticed people filing back into 1101 Eye St where the cops had the street blocked off. From the looks of it the building had been evacuated but was now all clear.
I'm not trying to panic anyone or start any kind of rampant paranoia, but these were some out of the ordinary things I noticed this morning. In all likelyhood they were bomb threats of some sort and nothing big, but these days you can never tell.
Has anyone else in the area noticed any peculiarities?
Note: I only want you to report something if you yourself have personally witnessed it and you are in the DC area. If you heard from a friend or cousin about some shit I don't want to hear it, only post stuff in this thread you have seen with you own eyes.

the evacuations of buildings, like the other displays of police activity, are meant to heighten the fear factor.

If there were going to be an attack I doubt someone would phone ahead.
Of course I don't know if that was the case or if something 'suspicious' were found, either way it's not usual activity.

We did one last week over here at Crystal City (fire drill). It was planned well in advance, and we had fire and bomb teams here as well to help coordinate and exercise. The Air Force did one at the Pentagon last week also.

I only caught the tail end of the building evac. so I can't say what caused it.
But the Bomb Squad at the Metro was hours before the building thing so I think it was seperate. And it wasn't just a couple guys with dogs either, there were several vehicles in the street, complete with the trailer that they use to dentonate objects.
All in all probably nothing, but just wanted to see if anyone else had seen anything, with it being so close to the election and all.

we had a fire drill yesterday here in DC to test out the new evacuation assembly area change (the old area was really inconvenient).
