Poll question: Is this the time to speculate about whether the election will be stolen?
I say no.

BBV and all the other problems with voting and dienfranchisement MUST be addressed, but making a stink about it this close to election day serves no purpose, since few of the technical matters like printouts can be fixed at this point, and lawyers are already working to make sure everybody who's entitled to vote gets to vote.

Shouldn't the focus be on GETTING OUT THE VOTE, and then hash over the outcome after Kerry wins it? If it's stolen, we should raise a ruckus unlike none ever heard before, but even if Kerry wins big, this stuff needs to be fixed, and I'm sure DUers won't forget about it in the delirium of victory.

1. Couldn't agree more.
Missing ballots and voter intimidation excluded -- we don't know that it will be stolen until it's stolen. We hurt our credibility if we start making accusations before the deed is done.

2. There is no question the election is being stolen
No need to speculate. The question is whether they'll succeed.

3. Disagree. The attempt is being made.

But that's not a guarantee that the attempt will succeed.

A high enough turnout on our side could easily be enough to wash out any of their tricks. A decisive victory is crucial. For that we need a high turnout. Telling people their votes won't count is not a good way to get people out to vote.

If we come at BBV and election reform from a position of having DECISIVELY WON, it invalidates the "Sore Loserman" theory of sour grapes that met every complaint about the 2000 fiasco.

GET OUT AND VOTE LIKE YOUR VOTE COUNTS!
