Long lines for some Ga. early voters,,,early voting ends friday??
I wonder why they do not offer this on the weekend before the regular election day.. Why close it on the day before? Why not just make it election MONTH..1st Tues in Oct to 1st Tues in Nov.. That way EVERYONE would have no problem in getting to the polls.. They coulld still count them on Nov 2 (or whatever date it was)..

Campaigns might be shortened by a month too:)..Why keep spending money if most people have already voted :)

Long lines for some Ga. early voters
Official predicts 72 percent of registered voters will cast ballots
Wednesday, October 27, 2004 Posted: 12:04 PM EDT (1604 GMT)

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- Georgians waited as long as three hours in line to vote, a sign from the first two days of advance voting that there is huge interest in the presidential election, a Georgia election official said Tuesday.

The heaviest turnouts were expected on Monday and Friday, the first and last days voters can take advantage of the new program.

2. After what we saw in 2002, I doubt it. He might get more votes, but
I doubt that he will "win"..

google "rob georgia" & you'll see what I mean../

4. Small chance...
The race was a dead heat for a short time during the summer. But there's no third-party alternative in Georgia to draw away conservative votes. There's Badnarik, but it's hard to say if he would draw away more votes from Bush or Kerry.

Oh, and the close race was BEFORE Zell Miller spoke at the convention. So I would put my money on Bush winning...but the high turnout is wonderful, and could make a difference in congressional races.

3. electronic voting machines can take 10 minutes per voter ,
slowing things down.

If we separated federal elections from local elections,
and people just voted for President, US Senator, and/or Congressperson, things would also move faster.

5. I hope this fiasco will make that a reality
Anyone who proves that they are an american citizen, should be able to vote for president..a national database would secure the one person one vote rule...

for congress & senate, you would only need to add one layer..a bill that proved your physical residence..

If you chose to vote in the "local issues/offices", that would be a separate ballot.

I have never seen people practically coming to blows, or demonstrating in the streets because Proposition F failed..:eyes:

A standard NATIONAL ballot for pres/senate/congress IS the only FAIR solution.

Whatever machines states want for their own elections is up to them, but for the really expensive and important elections, a simple 5x7 cardstock ballot would suffice..and a permanent ink marker..

Three columns...1 vote per column.. Easy as pie..and easy to count too

I would prefer more real live humans being hired to count, rather than electronic boxes..
