ARAFAT - Hold on for 6 more days!

PLEASE. I have NO sympathy for Yasser Arafat (although I have even less for Sharon). But I don't want him dying before election day!

I can't think of a logical reason why a swing voter would go to Bush over Kerry because of Arafat's death. Or for that matter, a pro-Israel Jewish voter. But you never know. It'd be undetectable in polls and tiny groups of people could win or lose this election. It's just one more variable to deal with.

More dangerous for us is that if Arafat dies, that dominates the news cycle. PLEASE, NO! I want the weapons story and Iraq on the front pages (though, of course, I don't want more soldiers to die in the coming days, although with a sense of resignation I fear that this will be the case). If the media's only talking about Arafat's death, and maybe spinning this in Bush's favor, talking about he marginalized Arafat effectively and now he's gone, hence it worked... that would... GRRR.

Please. Please. Hold on for 6 more days!
