Very Interesting Comment From A Neighbor This Morning
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 07:19 PM by ThomWV
First off I live far out in the country and its not uncommon for a neighbor driving by to simply stop in the road and chat for a bit. That happened this morning when my neighbor Lee stopped while he and his 20-something son were on their way, hauling junk steel for sale. Did you know steel is up to $200 per ton?

I had always assumed that Lee, who has a construction company that employs his sons as its sole help and also holds a Dealer License for used cars, was a Republican. It turns out that is not the case. For the first time in months I have found someone who can out rant me when the word "Bush" is spoken aloud. I had no idea.

As Lee's ranting continued, with me chiming in with every bit of support as I could muster, he said something that really got my attention. Indicating a stretch of road about 4~6 miles long from the closest town to the general area where he and I both live he said that "you know every one of them that live along the road are a bunch of screaming born-again Republicans." Well, I did know, or at least I suspected they were all followers of the Elephant, but there are one or two Kerry signs along the stretch of road so I had hoped that all was not lost.

Then Lee springs the giant surprise - he said "well, they may all be ranting lunatic Republicans but of the whole lot of them there are only 6 people who are registered to vote". It stopped me dead in my tracks. He went right down the road naming neighbor after neighbor and if they were registered or not. You have to understand, between he and his wife he is probably related to every single one of them and if you include the families of the wives of his sons then its a certainty. Lee KNOWS whos registered and who is not. Of the 6 registered voters he named five of them live in the two houses with the Kerry/Edwards signs.

There is hope in West Virginia, in fact there is optimism in West Virginia.

Big ole flag-waving, war-supporting patriots.....who don't vote. Usually its
for the cheesiest of reasons: they don't want to do jury duty.

More power too 'em, I say. I don't want foolish, mindless, lazy hypocrites voting.

It's bad enough we've got one squatting in the White House.

14. Could you imagine those foolish, mindless, lazy hypocrites
being on a jury? That would not constitute a jury of my peers!
geeze, they would hang you for shoplifting!
