What will DU be like after jan 20 with Kerry in office? |
|
I've only been around since june or july. Kerry winning is only a start and I hope the activism continues. The election is so important and has taken so much energy and time that many issues have been left alone.
We'll need to work on the real issues..living wage, healthcare, environmental policy, etc.
Won't it be great to shift from the election spin and polls to real issues that can effect people's situation?

3. I know I'll still be fighting the good fight |

Just getting Kerry into office won't be enough--the impeachment squads that have sat dormant for 4 years of Dumbya will be dusted off and brought back to the surface. Dauntless Dan Burton, Ken Starr, and the rest of their slimy ilk will try to take down Kerry the way they tried to destroy Clinton.

4. Oh, there will be lots to see and lots to do! |

The wingnuts are going to attack Kerry with a fury that makes the Clinton years look like a bygone time of butterflies and moonbeams and love for all. We will have to watch them like eagles to keep them honest, or as honest as they can be........

5. It will fracture somewhat |

But that's okay. That's healthy.
There are a wide variety of progressives here. Anyone expecting the kind of unity we have now to last past 1/20 is crazy.

7. We'll go back to being focused on changing the country |
|
Our first goal is to elect Kerry but we have so much more to do. Before the primaries we focused on a myriad of issues and had many debates. I love how almost all DUers are activists now. Most of us will go back to being analysts, emailers, callers until the next election. :-)

We won't be able to impeach when they are out office.
We will, however, be able to mount a campaign to have them charged with treason and other crimes.

They won't be candidates for impeachments (or pardons) when they are out of office.
We will, however, be able to mount a campaign to have them charged with treason and other crimes.
