Dear Mr. President:

On behalf of the nearly one million members and supporters of the American Conservative Union, and the millions more represented by those groups who have co-signed this letter, we are writing to urge you to veto the ill-conceived and unconstitutional Campaign Finance "Reform" bill, passed by the House last month, and the U.S. Senate this afternoon.


This letter appears at the website of the United Seniors Association, which has recently been memtioned on several DU threads.

The signers include Grover Norquist, L. Brent Bozell, Morton Blackwell, Craig Shirley, Gary Aldrich, Bruce Eberle, Richard Viguerie, David Bossie, Amy Ridenour, and Gary Jarmin -- all card-carrying members of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy (tm) who have also been featured on a series of DU threads.

And Cleta Mitchell is there as well.

4. I knew Cleta back in the 60's. She was a Democrat.

In fact, she called the convening meeting of the Women's Political Caucus in Oklahoma. She ran for and served in the Oklahoma Legislature. I lost track of her and then she re-surfaced as a wing nut in Washington, during the Clinton bashing years. I fell off my chair. I think she switched to the right after she found out her husband (at that time) was gay. Also, during the 80's many of the people she knew in college (and fought against) were all Repugs. Many of them were in the Reagan White House and at the RNC. She ain't nothing but a money whore so switched her politics.

I am curious, what exactly was she talking about?

And she'll always be Cleta Deatheridge to me. I too remember her from way back.

ad campaign. Sort of a "how to screw with someone by being a 527". I was only paying attention intermittently. The show is repeated several times if you want to catch it.

How Bee could finance it (find a lot of rich people, Cleta said), what Bee could say in it (everything except "Don't vote for X" or "Do vote for Y"), etc. It was ... different. Cleta insisted that she couldn't understand why people did positive ads when negative ones were so much more memorable and effective. :eyes:
