3. And the part I hated ... |
|
is that he died alone. And they don't even know it yet, everyone's going back to Washington and they haven't even found the body.
Sorry, it hit me kind of hard because my stepson died that way two years ago and no one knew until the next day. I still grieve for the fact that he was alone and had no comfort from someone's loving presence with him at that time.

My daughter-in-law didn’t tell me. While waiting to give her a ride home, I overheard her conversation with his doctor. I should not have posted that and really don’t know why I did because I don't normally gossip. I take full responsibility for being a complete idiot in saying anything about the situation. I’m now going to go soak my head in the toilet bowl as penance for my stupidity.

Don't be cute. The HIPAA rules seem cumbersome, but there are good reasons to protect patient confidentiality.

15. I do find it hard to believe that no body found him and |
|
everyone flew away, wondering where he was. Where the F is the SS agents. They have to have perimeters set up to protect the folks at Camp David, I mean, it's not just fly in and fly out and hope no nutty hunters or survivalist comes in out of the bushes to attack.
I know, it is t.v., but please, this is a bit odd.

motion detectors, infrared scopes by the marine guards, etc. a marine buddy of mine had the assignment of walking and patrolling camp david. a deer can't move in the woods without the SS and marines knowing about it.
i loved john spencer in this series, he is a class act and his work on west wing was consistently at the top of the class. i will miss him and that big block of cheese day.
good bye leo.

34. And I thought maybe I was the only one who found that odd... |
|
...when I watched the episode tonight. I've read some presidential bios, history, etc., and it was my understanding that a butterfly couldn't flit around unaccounted for up at Camp David. Marines everywhere, SS agents lurking about, electronic surveillance of the whole compound, and so on. I've loved Leo's character, so it was sad for me to see his (apparent) departure. I think I read somewhere where they're going to replace President "Bartlett" with a Repuke to close out the series? Would that be the Alan Alda character? Anyway, the West Wing has always been one of my favs.

The president will ask McGarry to become a trusted adviser and press secretary C.J. Cregg (Allison Janney) to become his new chief of staff. The show just ended with the same preview they've been showing all week -- Leo having a heart attack. That's all we're supposed to know right now. ;) Link: http://www.westwingepguide.com/S6/Episodes/114_TBW.html

That was a really horrifying portrayal of a heart attack. I don't know if it was realistic or not, but I sure hope I never find out.

It looked so much more like an emotional breakdown, which was probably their intent.
Glad to hear he's not leaving the show.
Janney as COS is a very daring pick. We really get to see what she's made of now.

The fact that Jeb is using their differences over foreign policy affect their old friendship is just a misery. How can he talk to him the way he did in that last scene? Just because he was more hawkish than him and wanted more bombing?
I dont even think Shrub would treat Andy Card that way.

28. Their differences were less about foreign poicy |
|
and more about the fundemental differences in how they view the world.
Jed's idealism vs Leo's pragmatism. They are so close despite almost completely divergent world views.
I thought it was very interesting to watch and a natural storyline to pursue, given the way the characters have developed.

Wells fucking ruined my show!
That was the best relationship on the show, and after everything Bartlet and Leo had gone through together, THIS is what broke them apart?? BS!!! And no one noticed that he's not around? Or that his clothes are still in his room? No one cares??
West Wing jumped the shark when Rob Lowe left (what a maroon) and then jumped it for good when Sorkin left. I can't stop watching, but I really wish I could, because it's physically painful to do so.
That bastard RUINED MY SHOW!!!

44. I figured a heart attack from the previews |
|
they had shown. It looked like a heart attack to me.
On the show, he grabbed at his gut, his chest, he favored one side, appeared to have radiating neck pain, and very early in the morning (dawn). It looked like it was brought on by emotional distress as well as physical problems.
I'll be surprised if he does make it after being left out there alone for so long. What a terrible way to die: alone, no help, no pain relief. The only thing good I can see in it being outside at dawn.
It looks like a good season. Last week's episode was wonderful also.

Leo survives. After the heart attack, he would have had to step down a CoS.
Bartlett decided to boot Leo to prevent the total destruction of their friendship over policy. Bartlett is a lame duck, and has a legacy to prepare.
Flamingo as CoS? Should be interesting. I don't think the character is up to the task.
