How would Bush* handle "Fail-Safe?" |
|
I'm watching "Fail-Safe" right now, a classic film starring Henry Fonda. For those who are unfamiliar with it, it takes place during the Cold War, when a computer malfunction causes a group of nuclear bombers to receive a false order to bomb Moscow. Unable to communicate with the planes or help the Russians succeed in shooting them down, the President must convince the Soviet leader to not retaliate. He ends up offering, if Moscow is nuked, to nuke New York City himself, and that appeases them.
I was wondering: if Bush* were in Henry Fonda's shoes, unable to recall or shoot down the bombers as they are minutes away from nuking Moscow, and both sides stand ready to destroy each other, what would Bush* do? How would he handle the Fail-Safe scenario?

Sorry, make that a "NUCULAR" attack. Against Russia, that is.
The man has no caring for his fellow humans, and he'd further believe that Jeebus told him to push the button.

6. That's an interesting question. |
|
We know what he did when handed the only real crisis of his Presidency. He read "My Pet Goat" for seven minutes. If presented with something far more serious the evidence says he would freeze until one of his betters told him what to do.

12. He would do the same as he did during the last major crisis. |
|
He would scurry like a rat to Air Force One. Jump in bed and pull the covers up over his head. And stay airborne and unheard from for about a day, hoping all the mean people will just go away and leave little Georgie alone.

14. 2 things would happen |
|
1 He would immediately blame the previous admin for putting in such cheap equipment. 2 He would claim Kerry voted against a bill that would have upgraded the computers, thus making america less safe.
The whole Bush admin hops on planes and are never seen again

15. He'd take General Buck Turgidson's advice |
|
In Doctor Strangelove, General Turgidson was chief of staff of the Air Force. When faced with the reality that General Ripper at Burpelson AFB had ordered his wing to attack the Soviets, General Turgidson recommended an all-out attack on all of their airfields and missile silos. With our 3:1 missile superiority ratio, we could wipe out 90 percent of their retaliatory capability, which would be disorganized and ill-led.
Bush would do that.
