I always knew that Johnny Hart, who writes the comic strip B.C., was something of a fundamentalist with regards to religion. Occasionally, he does a funny bit, too.
In recent weeks, however, I wonder if he's done his nut. Fallen off his rocker. Gone 'round the twist. At the very least, he's shifted from the occasional inaccurate commentary on religion (I can think of one of the top of my head, but which I don't know how to find right now, and one that's iffy).
I don't recall George Bush ever using the word "forgiveness". And I'm not just talking about the debates.
...I was unaware that Iraq was a "good thing". To say nothing of calling Kerry a man without a plan. And the casual addressing of a female character (whose official name, IIRC, is "Fat Broad") as Babe.
Oh, how subtle. Yes, he truly is the king of subtlety. Indeed, there is no one subtler. Except the grand high poobah of subtlety, Lewis Black.
That was sarcasm, in case it was too subtle for you, Johnny.
...this from someone who writes "who gaves us--the interrobang"? To say nothing of the fact that I don't recall Kerry ever using the word. Or...anyone, for that matter. Of course, I'm Canadian, and our media actually use English.
U.N. bashing; another favored tactic of the Rethugs.
And this one's just plain dumb. Perhaps I'm just paranoid by this point, but it seems to be mocking John Kerry's "I have a plan for Iraq that I refuse to reveal unless I'm elected/after the election". Besides, as I recall, it was a professor from Bob Jones University who said (I think it was on Crossfire), "That's a universal negative. Can you prove that?"
Hm. Not much to complain about in this one--I even like the main punchline--but I wonder if he feels, like Ann Coulter, that God gave us Earth to "rape".
He's not even trying anymore. Fix Anno's dialogue and this could easily be two people in For Better Or For Worse, Born Loser, (if they were, God forbid, right-leaning) Opus, or Doonesbury.
Once again, ladies and gentlemen, the king of subtlety.
