1. Yeah! For instance, Bush had a plan to get out of Vietnam
Contrast that with Iraq!

What's the smilie for cynical grin/sinking feeling inside?

12. It's from an interview near the end of his term as Gov of TX
I pulled it from the DU front page and, at 4 AM EST thought that it would be perfect in my sig line. But now that I'm more awake, I think it looks a bit hostile, like I'm giving the finger to whomever I'm responding to. What do you think?

Either way, I agree, Bush is a major league asshole.

3. That photoof the little boy
just breaks your heart. It is such a contrast to the madman Bush, grinning and saying he is bringing freedom to the Iraqi people.

Truth forever on the cross,
Lies forever on the throne;
But with that cross
sways the future
and in that dark unknown
Stands the Lord
Keeping watch upon His own.

4. Yes indeed, a huge contrast...
While that little boy was being scared for life here is bush* yucking it up yesterday in Ohio. Disgusting and disturbing at the same time...

5. Its much worse than Vietnam
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 05:12 AM by Demos
In Vietnam we were just dealing with a few million Vietnamese in one country - now we have over a billion Muslims against us - about 1 out of every four people on this planet, and in the process we have managed to alienate most of the non-Muslim populations as well. Besides they have all the oil.

7. Iraq is WORSE.
MORE troops have died in the last 19 months of Iraq than the number of troops that were killed in the FIRST FIVE YEARS of Vietnam.

More troops have been WOUNDED in Iraq than were wounded in the first 5 years of Vietnam.

Vietnam was 10 years; Iraq so far is 19 months.

At the current rate in Iraq, if it lasts as long as Vietnam we'll see far more than 58,000 dead troops.

The other part that makes Iraq far worse than Vietnam is the world effect. Vietnam only affected Vietnam & the USA. Iraq is affecting the entire world. And not in any way that's positive for America.

11. One thing i remember from Vietnam
days are Walter Cronkite every night telling us the Dead/Wounded for the day. It was so much in your face back then. Now it's all sanitized. I believe a week straight of the blood and gore being shown on all the networks <the truth if you will> would end this charade pretty quick. But our balless media won't go there anymore.
