The reason Bush is still in the race. |
|
This is one of the unstated unmentionables. That many of us think that the oil in Arab countries belongs to us, they better give it to us or else. Even those who harbor doubts about 9/11 being an Arab assault against us, think it is OK to pull off such acts to protect "our" oil supply. And that makes my last point. There are two prejudices that are still acceptable in our society. The first against gays and the second against Arabs or Muslims.
To me all of these explain very clearly why, in defiance of all reason, Bush still commands a following that polls estimate at 45-48%.

duplicitous 'news' outlets.
That, and a corrupt Congress and SCOTUS are the ONLY reasons. If news organizations were NOT allowed to lie, if they were asking real questions, Bush would have been impeached long ago.

People think they have a right to other people's resources. They don't really believe in free trade when there is real competition and you have to pay the market rate. When the competition gets tough, they return to old fashioned imperialism. You need something, just take it. In this regard pick up drivers and suburban SUV owners have something in common with the executives of Exxon-mobil and Chevron.
If thousands of people have to get killed in the process, they don't give a shit, as long as its not them.
