No wonder bush*/Cheney don't see anything wrong with the American economy! Their puppet masters are doing just fine from the looks of it.

<snip> NEW YORK (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM), the world's largest publicly traded oil company, on Thursday reported a 56 percent rise in quarterly profit, driven by soaring oil and gas prices.

Hey, the rest of you Americans, those who don't own oil companies: How ya doing? Got jobs? Got security? Got gas?

1. Shell and BP both reporting huge profits as well
seems like business is booming for Big Oil.

In another reality, this would be called price gouging, but since there are liars, murderers and theives in the WH, it's called a profiable year. :eyes:

4. Print up the info and put it where people who need to be motivated to vote
will be likely to see it.

5. Corporate profits are at all-time highs; taxes on those profits at lows.
When a corporation has little or no incentive to seek marginal revenues through increased employment (the expense of which reduces taxes), and when dividends and capital gains are also now taxed at all-time lows, it's no surprise employment has taken a nose-dive. It's not even a surprise to 'supply-siders' since the deluded will deny it and the predators knew it.

7. It's a hard sell
I've tried to explain that one to some people before, higher taxes actually increases employment because corps and business owners seek to do something with what would be profit so they don't have to pay higher tax rates on it. It all seems like some sort of run-away gambling operation to me, profits from stock shares instead of production, tax law that doesn't encourage production, very scary.

8. And while millions of Americans go hungry
and stop taking vital medication because they have to drive, the bloated, greedy, scum-sucking pigs reaping the profits will find a way ( and be given all the ways they can stand) to get out of paying any taxes on that profit.

Great America they want for us! The neo-Con way! Talk about Jesus while you oppress the poor. These are twisted, mentally ill people, DU friends.

9. Americans need to recognize part of the cost increases for their food
are going to the obscene profits for the oil companies. Food does not get to market on its own. It rides in trucks and those use fuel. The transportation cost increases show up at the supermarket check stand.

12. You are so right
Everything in our stores, EVERYTHING, is carried via trucks requiring fuel. And the manufacturers and farmers producing consumables need fuel to make what we buy.

So we'll just keep suffering, watching young beautiful Americans die for oil, and only imagine the cold-hearted bastards clasping their hands together in delight over all the ill-gotten profits they can't take with them when they die, anyway.
