Air America Radio appreciation thread
As we approach the election I think its important to recognize the invaluable role that AAR has played in getting as much of the truth out there as has been possible.

We have all worked for four years in exposing the fraud. AAR's rapid rise to prominence, and the talent of their personalities, have been critical factors in forcing the mainstream media to talk about stuff thet they otherwise wouldn't talk about.

We all have our favorite personalities and shows. AAR had the foresight to give us something or someone for everyone.

Me, I'm an afternoon Al and Katherine guy. But many days I will spend 8 to 10 hours listening intermittently. There is someone for every mood.

So Randi, Al, Janeane, Katherine, Mark, Marc, Mike and his Truthseekers, Chuck, Sam, and all the rest of you guys....THANK YOU. Along with Jon Stewart and Keith Olbermann, you are The Justice League.

since way before AAR. I basically have AAR on from the time I get home from work till after 11:00. Best thing that's happened to radio and especially streaming audio. Way to go guys! And speaking of "Guy's", AAR really could add Guy James to the line-up. He would make a great addition.

9. Seattle just got Air America on Monday...
I used to listen over the web when I got home from work. But now I listen from the time I get up in the morning until I go to bed at night (we're allowed to wear radio headsets where I work). I have a long commute each day and now actually enjoy it. We have Ed Shultz here as part of the daily line-up even though he is not one of the AAR regulars - his show is also outstanding.

AAR is great and all, but it would be great if they had a signal that could be heard OTP, or at night. I'm stuck out here in the Repugnican breeding ground of Cobb County and can't hear them one bit.

living in Western NC where there was nothing but right wing
radio for soooo long it is heaven to get Air America now. We
are also getting Ed Schultz and I really like him.

I thank all you left wing radio hosts....you lift my spirits
and make me believe that at last the public will slowly become
truly educated on the issues and the Democratic party will
become the majority party again.

P.S. don't leave us after the election!

16. I love Air America!!
:loveya:
I've been a fan of talk radio for years and there's been NOTHING to listen to for so long. I've listened to Randi through streaming for two years so I was so excited when Air America started.
I really believe the reason we have extremist right-wingers in power right now is because of the propaganda they've spewed, unchallenged, over the public airwaves for years now.
Thank God for Air America!! May it grow and spread into every corner of the country. And I second the idea of Guy James being on, too.
Now I can only hope that this will be the beginning of a liberal renaissance on the airwaves.

the brainwashing that has occurred (remember when we thought that ditto-heads were an annoying side-show?) is the reason we meet so many people who are completely ignorant. Imagine that Rush is your sole news source for 12 years or so.

22. AAR is so NOT the answer to Rightard radio.
AAR comes at you with opinions, sure. But it also comes at you with facts and sources. That the talent on AAR will give you the sources and then TELL YOU to go check it out to verify and learn more is what makes AAR so very different from the sick, craven liars that have usurped the voice of the Republican party.

The difference is not left and right. The difference is truth and lies.

Thanks to AAR and to Big Eddie and to Pacifica and to all of you at and with DU!

down here in GA - argh. The daily commute has become bearable. Tonight stuck in traffic for an hour, and on top of that, behind a car with bush/cheney stickers and, get this, flip flops GLUED to the bumper!!, but there was Randi to keep me sane.

At home I carry around a radio from room to room, the only one in my house that can pick up 1690 AM. Even took the radio to bed with me when I had a migraine -- better than drugs.

LOVE YOU ALL -- AIR AMERICA -- THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

37. AAR is great !
Here in Portland, OR we had nothing to listen to, talk-wise, the airwaves being crammed with R/W hate-radio shows of all stripes, even here in this overwhelmingly liberal bastion. Now, with AAR, I enjoy all of the shows, from Morning Sedition (one of the funniest shows on the air IMHO) to Franken, Randi Rhodes, Majority Report, Mike Malloy and Ed Shulz. And with the spectacular success of AAR here in Portland and elsewhere, I wouldn't be surprised to see other stations get on the "liberal talk" bandwagon.

38.  They Are Doing Fantastic Job - Too Bad Clear Channel
won't air the real schedule on their stations! I listen on the net, then if I do errands in the afternoon, it's a repeat of Randi Rhodes - they play some guy from Jones Radio and some weird guy at night named Phil Hendrie. Plus it pisses me off that Unfiltered is not played - They are so much smarter, better guests than the guys on Morning Sedition.

The 2 marks in the morning, Rachel & Chuck on Unfiltered, Franked for his guests, Randi, Jeanine and Malloy. Laura Flanders on weekends. And Campaign countdown - last weekend - Sunday 1-3 PM.
The ripple effect is felt on TV & printas well (more subtly): stories that used to be buried are covered now.

46. If AAR would only get an affiliate in the Hartford, CT area..
...I'd be able to listen even more often than I do now!

I drive a delivery vehicle in Greater Hartford, and can sporadically pick up WLIB. The signal fades whenever I drive under a bridge or high-tension wires. And even when my reception is at its best, I still pick up quite a bit of static.

At night, I log onto AAR's web stream for "The Majority Report" and Mike Malloy. But I really wish I could pick the network up clearly on my car radio!

Come on, Air America. With all the AM frequencies in Greater Hartford that broadcast nothing but crap, surely you could snap up one of 'em? WNEZ (1230-AM) or WPOP (1410-AM), for example.

50. I swear I think the anti-AAR people on here are rightwing plants...
...who just poopoo anything like that or whatever. Seriously, watch these people. I mean, it's one thing to have criticisms, and that's to be expected. But there's this patern here or folks who professional do-nothing-but-poopoo everything that's remotely "dangerous" that comes from the left. I noticed them during the 2002 election, they were the "Oh no we can't have Janet Reno get the nomination for govenor of FL, she's got the Clinton bagage! we need McBridge! He can WIN!" and we see how well that panned out. And these people DID start a wave of anti-Janet Reno sentiment, which killed her shot for gov'r and thanks to that we're stuck with Jeb unti 2006 ruining my state. So these people are dangerous. They CAN influence things into ways that will not pan out good. Seriously, keep your eyes open.

Also check out The Heatseekers, another great South FL punk band: http://www.Heatseekers.org they too have MP3s!

52. It's been a godsend in Atlanta metro these past few weeks
otherwise (outside of the NPR affiliates) it's Georgia Freeper hell, 24/7.

(Well, except for Clark Howard. He's ok.)

60. I used to hate the Braves
But the past two years, it's kinda silly to bother. The Mets will never field a competitive team so long as Fred Coupon is the owner, content to be Number 2 in New York (number two in more ways than one.)

I'll go back to hating the Braves with a passion when the Mets can compete with them.

55. Rachel Maddow is my Lesbian Goddess of AAR.
My working hours are usually 10-7, so I listen to the end of Morning Sedition and the first hour of Unfiltered on my long drive to work. Rachel rocks. She's so smart, informed, and funny.

56. I was unfamiliar with her before AAR
She is wonderful, I agree. Great complement to Lizz.

57. I used to think Lizz was a bit of a ding-a-ling.
Then she went on vacation. Without her, the show was too dry and NPR-ish. She keeps things offbeat and entertaining. I appreciate her now.

Chuck is good, on the rare occasions that he a) shows up and b) opens his mouth.

58. I was just thinking that this morning!
I was just thinking this morning how much I appreciate AAR because the non-radio pros like Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo could be working on TV and movies instead of spending their time on talk radio--a medium that doesn't rank very high on the entertainment spectrum. Instead, they've decided to channel their talents into getting the truth out to people who otherwise only have Rush to listen to.
