The Work after we win
Some of this is right here as well:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=104

But we must realize the long road still ahead of us when Kerry wins. There will be many people still unconvinced that he isn't the right choice. I will be working just as hard at convincing people he is, as if the election was still forthcoming. I will be working my butt off to convince people we are better off with him in the driver's seat. I will be at the ready to debunk any and all rumors about him and at the same time poised to hold him extremely accountable for his actions (most of which I'm sure will be good).

On November 3rd (hopefully things will be decided by then) we need to take a good long deep breath and relax. November 4th, we need to go back to work.

1. not to mention that the Right will be working to undermine him
just like they did with Clinton.

I'm going to relax a little immediately after the election and take a breather, but even after the election, we will still have a long and nasty fight ahead of us.

In fact, I'd say our battle is only just beginning. Just as the Right built themselves up over a period of decades, we'll be doing the same thing.

3. I think it would be very smart not to gloat at the Repugs.
It will make life for Kerry and all of us much easier in the next 4 or 8 years. Just like Bush I handled the collapse of the Soviet block and communism. Unlike the Repugs, let's have some class and show them how to act and how democracy is supposed to work.

4. I don't want to gloat
And I agree that would be a very bad idea.

I will maintain my calm approach to answering questions about Kerry and backing it up with sustainable evidence. If someone around me acts upset he won, I will want to know why and I will do my best to ensure they realize how much better things will be with Kerry as President.

5. I agree. It will be VERY tempting to gloat, but unwise.

The only positive thing about the Bush administration has been the fact that his reckless neocon/fundie partisanship has really united and energized the entire mainstream left against him. We need to be careful not to do the same for the Rethugs when Kerry gets in.

6. What? No gloating?
C'mon... it'll be fun to rub there noses in the shit B*sh has shat. In fact that's the only way to teach a bad dog not to do it again.

The piglicans called us anti-American just because we didn't go along with destroying Iraq and killing close to 100,000 Iraqis. They want to take away any number of constitutional rights just because THEY are scared. They strive to take away rights from minorities, rights that many a pint of blood has been shed over and for.

They need a taste of their own ill-conceived medicine. But you're right, gloating never has a reward. Shunning, ridiculing, harrassing and blacklisting? Now those are some actions that have proven to be rewarding, and the piglicans deserve every bit we can dish out.

Let's go get those B*sh Bastards!

7. Yes, most of them deserve everything they have dished out -
but we have to think of the future and John Kerry's ability to govern with the Repugs in charge of one or both houses of congress. He will include them in meetings, unlike the evil Cheney and Bush. We should be above the Repugs and not gloat to them. Of course, we can celebrate wildly among ourselves. Let's win this one for the good guys.
